I hear Matt Williams is available.

Congrats to him. Can't say that I would be excited about it if I were a Padres fan.

I actually liked Green...but if I were a Pads fan, I'd be concerned about his lack of experience, especially with that high dollar, veteran roster. Unless, of course, another San Diego Fire Sale is coming soon and Green would be managing a bunch of AA and AAA call-ups...then he would be fine.

Oh, and I think the D-Backs should have Matt Williams and Pat Murphy arm wrestle for the 3rd base gig.

@SteveGilbertMLB: With #Dbacks 3B coach Andy Green going to #Padres keep these names in mind as replacements: Matt Williams, Phil Nevin and Tony Perezchica.

@SteveGilbertMLB: Whoever #Dbacks get to replace Andy Green will likely have infield background since Green was also the infield instructor.

And Don Mattingly is now the Marlins manager.

The musical chairs of incomplete managers.

No Windmill Williams at 3rd, please

Agreed. He was the worst over there. Waiving Miggy around to get out by a mile, holding up guys who were actually fast like Pollack and Parra. Just terrible judgement at 3rd.

Quite honestly I thought green made some **** decisions sending runners as well.

Of course you don't want to see your 3B coach make too many mistakes.

But the skills required of a Manager are 100 times more crucial than those of a 3B coach and the few times he has to decide whether to send a runner home.

Matt Williams has never shown himself to be a people person. Just as Kirk Gibson. Not in interviews. Not doing color commentary. And, evidently, not as Washington manager.

I don't recall seeing Andy Green in any interviews. 'Any idea if he has a strong personality?

Here is a full local article from AzCentral.com. It sounds like a done deal. 'Not surprising. I just wish they would work with him on 3B coaching skills and hope they do not use him as fill-in TV color commentator. But you do have to give the D-backs credit for working with their own.

And the D-backs will be altering their uniforms next season. The colors won't change, but the Snake logo will come back.

--- 'Sorry, I hadn't yet seen the thread about the uniform changes until after I posted this.
