After top of 2, Pirates still lead 1-0. Rockies on top of Dodgers 6-0 right now.

Tomko just got drilled in his pitching arm by a line drive up the middle. We'll see how that impacts his delivery next inning.

1-1. Another freaking Hairston RBI. Now it is 3-1 Pads. Barrett hit a 2-run double. Next pitch, he gets tagged out on a 6-3 double play to end the inning and hurts his knee (caught his cleat scampering back to the bag). We'll see how that impacts his catching duties.

Padres announcers said Greg Maddux hurt his back in his last start, had an MRI today, and it showed some "change". He may not make his next start against Colorado. He caught a cleat too.

Homerun Pirates. Score is 2-3.

(The Dodgers are sticking with Lowe into the 4th inning, even though he has given up 6 runs already. Saving the bullpen for us???)

3 straight Pirate hits. 3-3 score. Bucks still batting. Tomko is not locating his pitches well at all. The Pirates are scrappy.

Sorry, I am watching both scoreboards. The Rockies are killing the Dodgers and Lowe is NOW out of the game.

The Pirates and Padres are tied in the middle of 3.

Rockies had 2 on and no outs and failed to score a run. Dodgers caught a break.

Padres just scored another 3 runs. 3-6 over the Pirates going into the 4th.

No rest for the weary. The Dodgers are going to have to deplete their bullpen just to get through the Rockies series. Good news for us.

Morgan of the Pirates just made a leaping catch at the wall to end the inning. Watch Baseball Tonight to see the webgems. He landed flat on his butt with his back against the wall. Ouch.

Tomko found his groove. Retired 8 in a row. We are done with the 5th.

Colorado added another run: 7-0 over the Dodgers.

Pirates go down quietly again. Bunt single is negated by a double play and a strikeout.

Bottom 7.

Dodgers are rallying. They trail the Rockies 4-7.

San Diego is set to face 4 straight left-handed starters in the next 4 days. They are 28-17 against lefties this year. Milton Bradley injured his oblique and cannot swing from the left side. He can swing from the right side, so he may be ready to come back as soon as tomorrow to face those lefties. All bad news for the D'Backs-supporters.

Let's hope the Rockies keep on their roll through the weekend.

Padres: Heath Bell in to pitch in the 8th. Pirates go down in a whimper. They have one more inning to score 3 runs. Let's hope this pathetic team doesn't find any pride before the D'Backs face them.

Rockies respond to Dodgers. Score is now 9-4.

The Padres are not the team we should be worried about. We want the Phillies to lose because they are the only team really challenging the Padres and the Diamondbacks for the wild card. I know it would be nice to win the division but I just want to see the Diamondbacks in the playoffs. Also, playing the Mets would not be too bad because their pitching is really struggling.

I'd rather face the Mets than the Cubs. Too many bandwagon Cubs fans in the Valley for my taste. But I am afraid that either way, there won't be much of a homefield advantage for us. But I really want to win the division. Padres are too cocky and need to be taken down.

Hoffman puts two on with 2 outs. Kata at the plate is the tying run. Kata pops up to third. Pirates officially laid down and died. No pride. No fight.

Peavy goes against the Rockies tomorrow.

The D'Backs lead shrinks to half-a-game.
