Up and down moments come for every program, no matter the sport.

The Petoskey hockey team has had all forms over the last handful of seasons, from a 21-win conference title season, to a three-win campaign.

Then, the 2024-25 season came with all pieces of highs and lows. It certainly ended on one of those high notes, however, in the state quarterfinal round.

Now, it gets capped with multiple all-state honors.

The Michigan High School Hockey Coaches Association recently released its collection of all-state teams and a pair of Northmen earned recognition in Division 3.

Both junior forward Madden Pateman and sophomore defenseman Anderson Ward claimed honors for Petoskey.

Pateman claimed honorable mention behind a team-high 16 goals and added 21 assists, with two goals and three assists coming during the postseason run.

His top performance of the season came in a three-goal, one assist game against Wyandotte Roosevelt. Pateman also had the game-winning goal in double overtime to help deliver the regional championship.

For Ward, a starter since his freshman campaign a year ago, a team-high 42 points came behind 15 goals and 27 assists. He had at least three points in eight games.
