Alabama football's Parker Brailsford doesn't sugarcoat to his teammates when they come to him about new Crimson Tide offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb.
Brailsford, a redshirt junior and Alabama's returning starter at center on its offensive line, has spent time with Grubb, having began his collegiate career at Washington under DeBoer and Grubb. The 6-foot-2, 290-pound Brailsford transferred to Alabama in January 2024, following DeBoer and company to Tuscaloosa.
Due to his history with Grubb, Brailsford finds many of his Crimson Tide teammates coming to him about their new offensive coordinator.
"One of the main things guys ask is 'Is he mean?'" Brailsford said when speaking to the media on Thursday. "I always answer yes, but it's when its needed for sure. Also, it's a good thing for us. Gonna be a good thing."
Brailsford also gave a glimpse into the fiery side of Grubb, going back to his freshman year at Washington when he accidentally jumped early on a two-count drill. The punishment: running to go touch the 'TNT' sign, something the Washington players would do if they did something they should not have at practice, while getting an earful from Grubb then entire way.

"It was fall camp, one of our first walk throughs," Brailsford said. "I was just barely getting reps, I was a freshman coming in. It was on a two-count and I jumped on the first one. He yelled at me ... The whole way I'm going to touch the TNT sign I'm getting screamed at. But I mean, I needed it to help me get where I am now."
Having Grubb back on the Alabama coaching staff, Brailsford said, has been great.
"It's great, I love that guy," Brailsford said. "He's a great offensive mind."
Alabama football wrapped up its fifth spring practice on Thursday morning. The Crimson Tide is working towards its annual A-Day game which is scheduled for Saturday, April 12 at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
