I'm A New Yorker
And I made my first trip to Arizona, this year and attended both the Buffalo and Dallas games, and only recently returned home. It was a trip of a lifetime for me from both a football and travel experience. I don't fly so I travelled by Iron Horse or to be specific, three horses in each direction, and arrived in Flagstaff where I rented a car. For the games we (my wife and I) stayed in Scottsdale and I had no idea about parking. Left our hotel at 10:15 in the morning and arrived at the stadium about a half hour later. Was directed to 91st St or Ave and drove about a mile or two to a school, which serves as the Brown parking lot. As a New Yorker I couldn't believe the parking was free as was the school bus (right at the school, they start at 11AM) which drops you off a couple of hundred yards from the stadium. When I entered Univ. of Phoenix Stadium, all I could say was wow. It is beautiful. Programs were free, people were friendly and the gift store was great. Only complaint (and not a real one) was that at 11:30 I froze, the AC is cold. When the stadium filled up, around game time, it got more comfortable. For the Buffalo game I was in the last row in the top deck but right on the 50 yard line, and had no trouble following the game. For Dallas, again in the top deck but in the corner of the end zone, about half way up, but again no problem seeing the action. Of course I was surrounded by Cowboy fans and that wasn't fun, but since we didn't buy tix until a few weeks before, I can't complain. Well you know how the games turned out, and add in the GC, Sedona, Flag, Santa Fe, Taos, The Coconino Forest, Walnut Canyon, the many Indian Pueblos (Wuptaki-Sp?), and Trading Posts. The Phoenix Botanical Gardens, The Heard Museum, The Northern Arizona Museum, the Lowell Observatory, and scenery too beautiful to describe, well you get the idea. Throw in breakfast at L'Aubrege in Sedona, ice cream at the Sugar Bowl in Scottsdale, and dinner at Geronimo's in Santa Fe, with margaritas at the Pink Adobe, also in Santa Fe resulted in my changing positions from a football perspective. I started my trip as a SS and ended as a NT. But like I said it was a trip of a lifetime. as an aside on the radio, I got to listen to Wolf as well as Gambo and Ash, and must say I enjoyed both shows. I'll close by saying that everyone who lives in the southwest, lives in a beautiful part of the country.
