Mar. 15—HURON — In a rematch from the Hanson Classic earlier this season, Parkston doubled down for a 38-35 victory over Lyman in the Class B girls basketball tournament fifth-place game on Saturday.

A defensive slugfest throughout, the entire contest was played in a 10-point window, as Parkston's largest lead was seven points, and Lyman never led by more than three.

The Raiders took a 33-32 edge early in the fourth quarter, and a four-minute scoreless drought ensued. But over the final 2 1/2 minutes, the Trojans connected on six straight free throws and limited Lyman to a last-second two-point field goal that didn't impact the final outcome.

Keeara Oakley posted a double-double at 10 points, 10 rebounds and two steals for the Trojans, while Lauren Ziebart also scored 10 points with four rebounds. Mya Thuringer and Berkley Ziebart each had eight points, five rebounds and two assists. Parkston ended its campaign with a mark of 21-5.

Bree Smart led Lyman with 10 points and nine rebounds, and Mak Scott notched eight points and nine rebounds. Jordyn Scott scored nine points, and Brooke Palmer had six points. The Raiders finished with a 20-5 final record.
