Saw on Espn Insider about Nationals really wanting Parra but our asking price is too high. It better be. I hope they don't trade Parra.

Agreed - we need him - and if we do trade, want an arm and a leg back

It didn't say what the asking price was. They just went on to name a bunch of pitching prospects the Nats could give us. I don't want Parra gone especially for any pitching prospects

sorry it wasn't just pitching prospects.

I don't remember the rules about posting insider stuff but here is the last paragraph. Go ahead and delete if this is against the rules...sorry

"Despite trading away several prospect in the deal to acquire Gio Gonzalez from the Oakland Athletics, the Nationals have a strong farm system -- if that is what the Diamondbacks are asking for in return for Parra. Right-hander Alex Meyer, outfielders Destin Hood and Brian Goodwin and infielder Steve Lombardozzi could be part of a trade, as well as left-hander Robbie Ray, among others."

Parra for Zimmerman straight up. The Nats have a stud 3B prospect on the way up, so why not.

Doesn't he make about 6x as much as Parra? Dbacks are out of spending money.

Here's the breakdown:

2012: $12 million
2013: $14 million
2014: $14 million
2015: $14 million
2016: $14 million
2017: $14 million
2018: $14 million
2019: $18 million

Could you imagine him behind Upton?

No way the Dbacks step into that. And yes I'd love to see him here. A power hitting 3rd baseman would make the Dbacks the hands down favorite in the NL.

The Nationals just signed him to that contract so they won't move him. Add to the fact that it would take Parra plus one of our top pitchers so just forget about it. As I've said before if the D-Backs could get Lombardazzi for Parra you say yes.

Glad to see the Nationals are finally making an effort to win and put a solid team together. I wish my team would do the same.

It is highly unlikely that all three of the dbacks OF will remain healthy all year. Parra will be a crucial piece to the team this year thus the asking price should be high.

In addition to the Bret Butler quote I posted in item 14 (on the previous page) about Young's weak batting average and weak arm, I have seen various quotes from the D'backs manager and coaches hinting that Parra will share CF with Young and time will tell who winds up getting the most playing time.

If this means that the D'backs coaching staff is getting fed up with Young's insistence on trying to hit every ball into the air, it is about time.

Common sense should tell him that the 470 out of 500 official at-bats where the ball doesn't reach the seats give the outfielders time to get to them.

With line drives, every hit ball has a chance of going between the fielders for a hit, even if it doesn't reach the seats.

Those same quotes seem to clear up a misconception about Young having greater range. (A) Parra has a very quick first step and room for development and (B) that Young's greater range has only shown itself on balls hit over his head.

Here is the article citing what D'backs coach Eric Young had to say.

The Diamondbacks have decided that in order to help the team win, they want Parra to get more comfortable in center field, potentially opening a new avenue to get him into the lineup.

Young doesn't see why Parra can't play center at the same level he played left.

"In my mind, he's a Gold Glover," Young said. "I don't care what position you put him at. I think he can play all three positions that well.

"Of course, he's going to have to make some adjustments in center field, but once he gets acclimated to it, he's a Gold Glove to me anywhere."

Last season, Parra was excellent on balls hit to his left and right and balls that he had to charge, but Young believes the biggest adjustment to center will be on balls hit over his head.

Out of curiosity, can you make one post where you don't bash Chris Young? We all know he did something to you to piss you off, but you don't need to make every post some vendetta against him.

I hate how every thread devolves into a Chris Young bitch fest. Get over it

Shouldn't you guys be saying that to Brett Butler, who said about Young, "He doesn't hit, his arm isn't very good." And to Eric Young, who said about Parra, "I don't care what position you put him at. I think he can play all three positions that well." This from our Minor League manager and Major League coach.

The article went on to say that, last season, Parra was excellent on balls hit to his left and right and balls that he had to charge, but Young believes the biggest adjustment to center field will be on balls hit over his head.

The only consensus from the articles is that, in the field, Parra is excellent on balls hit to his left, right and in front of him. And certainly has the stronger throwing arm. The one category where Chris Young is better at this time is on balls hit over his head.

Then there is Chris Young's .236 batting average last season, which brought his lifetime average down to .240 vs Parra's .292 last season and .282 lifetime.

As I posted, there was also a quote from the D'backs to the effect that Parra will share CF with Young and time will tell who winds up getting the most playing time.

It sounds like there is going to be real competition for the CF position as the season progresses. If you guys are not happy with that, blame it on Chris Young, don't blame it on me.

And, yes, there is something about CY that pisses me off. Something? I was rather specific about. Young stubbornly trying to popup just about every pitch.

I also believe that he is a bad influence on Justin Upton. And the sooner they are parted, the sooner Upton will grow up. That is my opinion.

I am a D'backs fan and I resent anything that could stand in the way of our success. I would hardly call that a vendetta.
