Stefon Diggs will officially have a new jersey number with the New England Patriots in 2025.
The team announced on social media that the four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver would be wearing the No. 8 jersey this season. In many ways, it marks a new beginning for the star wideout after signing a three-year, $69 million deal with the Patriots in the offseason.
Diggs wore the No. 1 jersey with the Houston Texans last year, but second-year wide receiver Ja'Lynn Polk currently wears that number with the Patriots. The veteran receiver recently told fans he had no intention of asking for Polk's jersey number in New England.
The Patriots are hopeful that Diggs can bounce back strong from his ACL injury and get back to being the dominant player he once was with the Buffalo Bills.
He looked to be on the verge of notching a seventh straight 1,000-yard receiving season under his belt last year with the Texans before his devastating knee injury. Time will tell if he can get back to that point with the Patriots' young and promising quarterback, Drake Maye, throwing him the ball.
