The New England Patriots released four players on Friday afternoon, per an announcement made by the team.

Linebacker Curtis Jacobs, offensive tackle Caleb Jones, linebacker Andrew Parker Jr. and center Lecitus Smith were all released.

Jacobs played in nine games last season and started in two of them. He had one tackle and three special teams tackles, before ultimately ending his season on injured reserve last November.

Jones was most recently released by the Green Bay Packers back in August. He signed a futures contract with New England in January. Parker signed with the Patriots' practice squad back in December. Like Jones, he was also signed to a futures contract in January.

Smith signed with the Green Bay Packers in 2024 and started the year on the practice squad for the organization. He appeared in eight games for the Patriots on mostly special teams.

New England is still swimming in enough cap space to make another major roster move ahead of the 2025 NFL draft in April. So far, they've been patient and composed in going after the best fits for the team, while also trimming the roster in other areas when necessary.
