Patriots sign DEs Ellis, Carter (AP)

The New England Patriots have signed free agent defensive ends Shaun Ellis and Andre Carter. Ellis is a two-time Pro Bowl selection who has played 11 years for the New York Jets. Carter played 10 seasons with the San Francisco 49ers and the Washington Redskins. Both are former first-round draft picks. Ellis had two sacks in New York's playoff win over the Patriots in January.
