The New Orleans Saints and San Francisco 49ers are tied for the second spot in the poll behind the defending champion New England Patriots. The Patriots received 11 of 12 first-place votes for 383 points in balloting Tuesday by media members who regularly cover the NFL. The Patriots are making a case for one of the best teams in NFL history and one of the best defenses in NFL history,'' said Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk.
