Bruce Pearl says he knows he is serving as the NCAA's example to other coaches of what not to do when facing investigation. The former Tennessee basketball coach said Thursday he is glad Tennessee was not further punished for what he and his assistants did and he takes full responsibility for his mistakes.

Of course they did that was the whole point. They wanted to show coaches if you break rules and then lie to us about it, we're going to nail you.

An executive bag boy. Quite appropriate.

Pearl Takes Job as VP for Knoxville Company

Aug 30, 2:00 PM (ET)

By BETH RUCKER

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Former Tennessee basketball coach Bruce Pearl has taken a job with a Knoxville-based wholesale grocery company as a vice president of marketing.

Pearl had also been considering an offer to coach the Texas Legends of the NBA's developmental league but says in a statement released Tuesday that he feels Knoxville is home for him and his family.

He will begin working at H.T. Hackney on Thursday. The company is led by Chairman and CEO Bill Sansom, a former University of Tennessee trustee.

Pearl was fired from Tennessee in March in the wake of a two-year NCAA investigation that culminated Wednesday with a three-year show-cause penalty against the coach.

It may work like that in basketball, but in the recent football violations cases, We seem to have plenty of "Here's how to cheat, and get away with it" (See 180K)

I love how Ohio State "Self imposed" getting rid of PAST wins. (And pryor is suspended for games he would never see the field in.) Sure The Vest was canned, but there was too much evidence to be able to let him go unpunished.
