I must say that many of us were very hard on Penny last offseason(I even remarked at one point that his value had dropped so much that he should be called "Peso"), but after what I saw of him this season, I can honestly say that I like him and I'm glad he's on our team. That doesn't mean I think he isn't overpaid, but his attitutde and his production were great this past season. I'm looking forward to seeing what he does on the floor next year.

I agree. If he was getting paid the mid-level exception ($4 million) I would be very happy with his play and his salary. Knock on wood, but I can't believe how healthy he has been. I mean the finger problem from last season could happen to anyone. It's his knees I've always been worried about.

I agree with your statement from last season. Peso. I think that everyone was complaining mostly on his value. A NBA player that makes as much as he does should be putting up more numbers bottom line. I think he has contributed to this team but not 12 mil worth. He get the assists only because he can't hit the mid jumper anymore. That's what he should work on this summer. We knew he could pass.
We can still complain a little about 6 million dollars worth I say.

sorry I am new to this. I got a little quick on the enter button.

Don't get me wrong I think that he still can play. In fact I like him. But with that much $ on the line he can take some smack. He will just need to take and make the open shots next season. Then his assists will be even easier to make.

Not me. I was complaining mainly about his attitude. That, however, has improved. Sure, he's overpaid, but so are a lot of players. The salary, ultimately, isn't what kills the team. Hardaway is definitely an asset at this stage of his relationship with the Suns, and he deserves a lot of credit for making the changes within himself for that to be possible.

On ESPN Insider, it said Penny will be training with Jordan's personal trainer along with a few other players...

I agree, Eric.
Penny improved his attitude, didn't complain about anything, and he stopped running his mouth in the media (for the most part).

Agreed. Penny is a very important piece of our team. We've been bitching and moaning about his contract for years--and yet, here we are, he's still with the team and his contract still hurts us monetarily. But the difference now is that he's on the floor, and better yet, he's contributing.

For me, that's what it all boils down to. And I say Amen to that!

They still have to try and unload Penny because ultimately Joe Johnson should/will become the starter permanently and Penny is not the type of player you would want on your bench not with his attitude and not for the money.

Penny might hurt Joe Johnson's maturing process already.

If they can't trade him this season for something they like I would almost bet money that he will be gone within the next 16 months if he has a good season next year which he should after being relatively healthy for one season and an offseason to improve again.
