JETS WILLING TO ENTERTAIN OFFERS FOR CHAD

Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that the New York Jets are willing to entertain trade offers for quarterback Chad Pennington.

The trade deadline is 4:00 p.m. EDT on Tuesday.

Pennington has performed poorly this year after having a solid season in 2006. So poorly that it's unlikely that someone will make a move.

Then again, with guys like Tim Rattay and Vinny Testaverde and Tim Hasselbeck getting work, shouldn't someone make a play for Pennington?

What do you say--do we add another fragile QB to our elite corps?

Yeah I would trade a 2008 7th rounder for him.

That might just be crazy enough to work. Depends on what they're asking. A 5th or 6th rounder, I'd give it a shot.

He's not as bad as he's been made out to be, I think his confidence is shot.

A change of scenery might do him good. We've got a better team than the Jets so maybe a better supporting cast will help.

Better option than Tim Hasselbeck. I still think Tim Rattay can be good once he learns the system.

He's having a bad year, but he's a darn good QB when he's healthy. I don't understand Noo Yawkas' hatred for the guy.

They hate everybody.

But his arm is pretty weak. People who get on Matt about his throws will explode if we get him.

noodle arm. no thanks. no one that we can trade for at this juncture is going to be the savior this team needs. let's face facts, we lost our top two qbs. no team really survives that unless they have an unknown jewel like brady on their roster who knows the offense from training camp on...

yeah, PFT isn't the best thing out there.

I like Pennington, and despite his struggles this year, he's a very accurate QB. With our weapons at WR, he could be effective.
