Peter Gammons just reported on ESPN that Larry Walker could be traded to Arizona or Oakland. He said it's up to Larry if he wants to play for a contender. Colorado is willing to trade him. I say no way. I do not want to see him in a Diamondback uniform.

I believe that Walker would have come here, had Williams not first vetoed the trade. Larry's comments were to save face, having to stay in Colorado, after they planned to move him!

The D'backs still need a third legitimate 3-4-5 hitter to join Gonzo and Hillenbrand. It's not Danny Bautista (who is one of my favority players) and it's not Steve Finley.

If it's a choice of Walker or nobody, I say take Walker! Especially now that we are hearing that Giles would prefer the Padres, to be near his home.

Peter Gammons has alot of moron between his ears. I think half his job is to make stuff up.
There is no way the Diamondbacks would revisit the Walker fiasco. Gammons made this up. Gammons, hopefully will get more creative as the deadline approaches. Don't believe anything that Gammons reports.

The D-Backs ate both Williams & Wolmaks contracts. Does that equal around $17 M? I just connot see them spending more big bucks for a short term solution. Now if Wolmack's money were contributed as payment to Walker's salary then it would make some sense.
Bottom line - get rid of Brenly!! He' not been making sound decisions by putting Myers out there. As such, he continually demonstrates a slow learner mentality. Just my opinion.

Ditto. Gammons JOB is to make up stuff!

I mean he does talk to GM's and stuff to get "into the loop" but then im sure that 50% of his job is speculation.

He asks "hey would you guys be interested in Walker?"

GM "We need a right handed power bat...."

The Rockies aren't yet mathematically eliminated from Wild Card contention themselves, do it doesn't seem logical that they would help fill one of the Dbacks major holes..... I know the Rockies are probably desperate for a closer since Jimenez began struggling, but it seems that Brenly has some attachment to
Mantei. The only OF of theirs that I've heard linked to trade talks is Jay Payton, who's been a major under-achiever this year and more than likely he would be dealt to an AL team. Plus, Larry Walker bats LH anyways, so he doesnt suit the needs of the Dbacks either....

Also, I just read how Walker might be suffering from a possible hernia and might be placed on the DL w/in the near future..

Addressing only that point . . . now that we have Hillenbrand, it doesn't matter as much if our new RF hits righty or lefty -- whether it's a 3-4-5 of R/L/R or L/R/L.

The other five look to be pretty balanced:

Counsell (L)
Spivey (R) or Kata (L-R)
Finley (L)
Cintron (L-R)
Catcher (R)

In MLB a team "eats" a player's contract the day it signs the player.

Other things become illusions (for example when a player in his last year gets his highest paycheck).

Yeah, for the over-all line-up it may be well-balanced, but they only have 1 RH-hitting OF (Danny Bautista) and McCracken was hitting coming into Friday's game w/ a .236 BA., OBP of and .521 OPS from the right-side..... Those 2 don't strike immediate fear into opposing pitchers nor doesn't help when most managers play the percentages these days, that would affect them until they add another menacing RH bat to go along w/Hillenbrand....
Case in point, the Dodgers had a "south-paw" Perez on the mound and Finley, Bautista, and Gonzalez (well I know he was intetionally walked a cpl times) didn't do much against him.... I even thought Bautista was over-rated back in his years coming up thru the Tigers farm-system and he still hasnt done anything merit a spot on the team and unfortunately really doesn't possess much trade value....

The only true RH hitting-OF in Tucson is Terrero and he doesnt seem to have much power... At least he's a threat on the bases, which would be welcomed whenever the Dbacks finally part with McCracken..... That's why it is imperative for Spivey to change his attitude and learn how to play RF, at least during the off-season and into Spring Training......
