In the upcoming draft, the Chargers must add another weapon in the passing game. They could do so in the early rounds or wait until later if they choose to address other needs like the interior part of the offensive line or along the defensive line.
Pro Football Focus identified the perfect early and late round target for Los Angeles. By no surprise, Michigan tight end Colston Loveland was tabbed as the Day 1 option.
If Loveland is available when the Bolts pick at No. 22, it will be extremely difficult for Jim Harbaugh not to reunite with his former player. Loveland would be an immediate contributor in the passing game, something they haven't had since Hunter Henry.
If the Chargers wait until Day 3, PFF believes Colorado State wide receiver Tory Horton is a good option.
Los Angeles needs a vertical receiver and Horton fits the billing, with his sufficient speed, great ball-tracking skills and the ability to win in contested situations. Horton could be a reliable Z-receiver and compete for snaps in his rookie season.

The Chargers need to bolster their group of pass catchers, and Loveland could offer immediate impact as a tight end/big-slot mismatch weapon. He finished the season with a 90.6 PFF receiving grade.

Horton is another intriguing option. His 3.45 yards per route run ranks fourth in the draft class, and he brings added value as a returner, having tallied three career punt-return touchdowns.
