Surprisingly bullish outlook

interesting stats on the offensive line production -- namely, Cooper, while not great, was supposedly way better than Larsen. go figure
Vernon, Ayers, Hayes or Shelby sound like great additions. Then Okafor and Golden can fight for time.
Didn't realize that 3 members of the line graded out that poorly. Thought Sendlein did decent. Bring on Harris. GitRdone Kiem!

The good news is the Cards are close enough to a championship that top free agents would want to come here. That's a new one for us.

One of the most interesting comments in the article is that the Cardinals could lose all of there Unrestricted Free Agents and not be bad off. One of the Unrestricted Free Agents is Drew Stanton and it will be interesting to see what is done with him. If Palmer's finger really was a big problem, then Stanton should have been the starter for at least the last game of the season and maybe even against the Packers.

I honestly think trading for Barkley was done with the intention of letting Stanton walk this off season.

Yep, I think so. I'd like for them to sign the FA's (DE/OLB & G) formentioned, draft a young stud with good pressuring ability in the 1st, and then be prepared to move anywhere in the draft after that point, to target the next 2 or 3 picks. ILB, CB and an ACCURATE arm with football IQ, if given the opportunity. Don't pass on another Wilson if he's the real deal. Have to look at the possibilities. Take BPA.

Backs up what I already knew, Coop was better than Larsen. But BA has some sort of personal issue with Coop, so hed rather plug in an inferior player whos "his guy". (much like Sowell over Humphries).

Try Coop at Center. I magnanimously (not correct usage but go with it) believe that Coop could be the #1 C in the NFL with his talent.

Everything about him screams 'Center', including the fact he killed the wonderlic, which says hes very smart, which is a requirement of being a Center since you make the line calls.

if we can add two impact players in the front 7 next year, we'll be right back in the running for the Super Bowl.

yes... Sunday was awful and yes, a lot of my old doubts about Palmer crept back in my head, but this is still a VERY GOOD football team. They just weren't the best and unraveled when they got behind. Not the best look, but hopefully fuel for next year's fire.

How is Coop not his guy? He was BA's first 1st round pick.

Wolfly was saying he has issues grasping the weekly game plans. Don't know if that screams center, but they need to find a home somewhere for this guy. We need better push up the gut and that could get him to the second level easier.

Rookie + complex new offense = me not concerned until next year.

the Center is sort of the QB of the OL so if he has problems grasping the game plans they're not playing him at C.

He's inconsistent but so many of our big run plays when he was in he had a big block on them. Unless we sign someone else I'll be pretty disappointed to see Larsen ahead of him next year I just don't see the advantage of someone being consistently mediocre over a less consistent guy who can pave the way for big runs.

DJ had some big games with Cooper not starting but overall I felt the team ran the ball better with Cooper in there.

Interesting that they're actually advocating replacing Cooper with a FA signee like Harris.

Hopefully he works really hard this offseason it would sure suck to have to sign someone else to replace him after taking him in the first round paying him and waiting this long.

I think the talent is there but he has to start producing this coming year or else.

I often wonder if some guys just step into the coaches dog house for some reason and they don't ever recover? It could be as simple as rubbing the coach the wrong way.

it can.

it also may be as simple as we drafted a great player who was not suited well for our blocking scheme....

or maybe he suxx.... but I don't think so...

I thought part of why they drafted Cooper was because of his ability to pull on run plays. It was my understanding that was an important part of the run game. I don't think they asked Larsen to do that very much. You saw Iupati pull more than Larsen. Am I wrong on this?

you are correct. In most running schemes it is the left guard that pulls most often...Cooper was drafted to be the left guard.... later we signed Iupati,..so Coop was moved.... would be really sweet to have guys in both spots that can pull.

The best I can guess on Larsen over Cooper is: Arians was willing to put less talent out there in order to get consistent assignment execution. I suspect that also explains Sowell over Humphries.

Said differently -- Larsen and Sowell will get beat more often, but won't make the mental error that allows a free run at Palmer that might end his season.

That's my thoughts as well. BA has his accountability list where all errors are listed for all to see. Not sure if he does that during the season but you know all the offensive players would see and hear about the mental errors and how does BA keep trotting Cooper out there if he keeps making too many mistakes.

Heck yeah. Man, did you ever think this would be the case?

I agree. After seeing the UFA list, we're not too bad off at all, especially given what other teams will have to go through with the cap. I mean, Pittsburgh radio is talking about maybe having to choose between Antonio Brown or Levian Bell (eventually).

Anybody know what our cap situation is?
