There are going to be a lot of quality CBs out there. I'll wager that at least one of the follwing are in a cardinals uniform next year (with my own 5 star rating attached :)):

A. Winfield (*****)
C. McAllister(*****)
C. Bailey (*****)
S. Springs (***1/2)
C. Woodson (***)...only 3 stars because of injuries, if healthy he gets 4...
T. Vincent (***) ...Age is an issue, I think...
A. Plummer (**1/2)...a young corner with a lot to learn, but he does have a lot of starting exp....

And, after seeing the number of quality FA CBs, I might be changing my tune about what position to draft in the first rd. next year. Maybe we should take a QB...

I would take CB Fernando Bryant Jags before Springs, Vincent, Plummer, and Winfield. JMO!

I'm about three cups of coffee away from firing up the Eli Manning bandwagon.

Oh how times have changed...

You might want to put Reggie Howard of the Panthers on your radar screen as a FA CB. I've been watching him as I live in Charlotte and he is having an outstanding year

Section 11,

If we end up in a position to draft as high as it would take to get Manning, I quess we would have to consider it. I'm hopeful that it will academic however. I really want to finish at 7-9 or 8-8 at the worst and then have a #14-#18 pick and go after a Chris Gamble or DeAngelo Hall as a CB.

As a sidebar, it's tough to get a rise out of the Steeler fans isn't it......they are actually quite humerous and very objective aren't they.

He may be having a good year. But he has the luxury of playing behind the best D-line in football. That can make any CB look like a star. Makes you wonder wether its the system or the player?

Seattle is bound to let one of their CBs loose. I'm surprised Barrett didn't resign. I guess he's asking too much. It seems like the Cardinals have been giving fair contracts...

I agree IF we sign a shutdown CB before the draft and we still take a CB (if there are any good ones left) in the second round.

CB David Barrett, OG Chris Dishman, S Justin Lucas, CB Emmanuel McDaniel, DT Derrick Ransom, C Jason Starkey are probably not coming back. I like Lucas, but the rest are taking up space. Dishman's been a great back-up, but I think we should start nuturing someof our younger players on the line. It appears that Barrett is asking too much. That's a shame.

For once we are in a position to move in FA not to just replace huge holes by departing guys, but to strengthen areas of need.

This is great - besides Barrett, I am not too worried about losing any of those guys.

John Tait is an interesting name. Not that we need another starting OT, but didn't he really want to be drafted by us. We took Boston instead and then drafted Shelton later in the first. I think his interest had something to do going to BYU and the large Morman population out here.

If we were not able to resign Shelton, I believe Tait would have been our top Free Agent target next year. However we have other needs now that need to be address first. Still I wouldn't mind having him on our OL.

with the 100% benefit of hindsight - kearse or mcalister would have been nice instead of boston:D

But of course at the time...we had aeneas and Simeon...so there is no way we would have taken either kearse or mcalister.. I think we also had swann (although injured) and mark smith in 99 - so we would not have taken macfarland either..not sure on Smith and Swann..

It is all andre wadsworths fault..we could have taken woodson one year and kearse the next (instead of boston with the pick from san diego). damn I'm good:D

Disclaimer: at the time of the picks (wadsworth, boston, etc) - I was 100% in favor.

Not to mention that we had Tommy Knight, a corner who never did anything, ever. He was a first-round draft pick, for christ's sake!

I have been on the Bryant badwagon since preseason. I have watched several Jags games and he is like the WR's shadow and isn't afraid to support the run. Very underrated corner. Reminds me a bit of Aeneas.
