If true, this bums me out, but I feel like it's better to pull the Band Aid off and get the pain over with.

Not a surprising development but it still stinks.

Need to get on DeFilippo ASAP.

If this is true however, thanks for the memories Bruce! It was a fun ride.

A great hire, if this is it for BA, I'll say he was the greatest Cardinal coach in my lifetime up until now.

It makes sense

By my count, Bruce has had three diff health issues in the last 2 years.

As has been said elsewhere -- i dont think you can rebuild with a HC that is year to year. Further, i wonder if the current year to year status of the coach has impacted things the last two seasons. If you buy the thought you cant let a HC go into the last year of a contract as it makes him a lame duck, then Bruce has kinda made himself a lame duck by taking the last two years on a year by year basis.

The stereotype of a coach is this fat unhealthy stressed out medical risk. It is long overdue for these habits to change. Ironic that in a sport that stresses medical health the coaches , generally, do not align with the image.

Live healthy coaches.

My guess is that BA wants to shift over to the broadcast booth, and you know what? He's made to order for it. He will be very entertaining and provocative. With the rumor that Jon Gruden could be headed to TB as their next HC, who knows? Maybe BA could be a candidate for MNF?

Well, my bet is that Fitz's future is more tied to who's at QB than the HC.

And if the Cards commit to a QBOF in this upcoming draft, why wouldn't a new HC welcome having both CP and Fitz as he grooms the new guy?

I know that were it me, I'd welcome 8 to 10 wins in year one while I prepared for the medium, long-term future.

Schefter emphatically said the Pats were not trading Jimmy G either.

I'll be shocked if BA is back withBig Red in 2018

The PFW report was phrased poorly. The Cardinals don't want BA's retirement to be considered a "mutual" parting. BA is going to go out on his terms. If the time is right for him to retire---and it looks like it is---then that's what this is.

Hearing Bruce Arians hasn't told the Cardinals of his future plans, and the report that they parting ways is inaccurate. The Cardinals would like to have Arians back next year.

That in bold is just as much of a story if you ask me.

Knowing it is up to Arians at this point is new information, at least for me.

Interesting.

When the news leaked out that the Cardinals had interest last year in Sean McVay in light of BA's health concerns, it would seem reasonable to assume that conversations between MB/SK and BA about BA's potential retirement (immediate or otherwise) took place back in late January. At that time, it wasn't even public yet that BA had suffered through another cancer scare. Also, during that time BA was putting the finishing touches on his autobiography.

What likely happened is that BA expressed his desire to coach the 2017 season and that he would retire at the end of the season. This would explain why Steve Keim was so conservative and forward looking in free agency. It would explain too why the Cardinals did not draft one of the top QBs in the 2017 NFL Draft, seeing as adding a QBOF should be a decision made in unison with BA's successor.

Speculation from back in October...

If BA goes then I wish him the best. I've only seen one other Cardinal coach in my lifetime that I could compare him to and that's Don "Air" Coryell. They are the two best Cardinal coaches that I have ever seen.
