Weller was considered a heart and soul type player and captained Hartford last season in the AHL. He won't light up the scoresheet but its a good signing for a San Antonio team that the Coyotes have almost entirely wiped the slate clean with. They gave Schlemko a three year rookie deal after seeing him in various prospect camps as an undrafted free agent so they must see something in him. Hopefully he will provide San Antonio with a boost for this upcoming season.
The team also signed Matt Murley to a one year deal for San Antonio, who last season was second in scoring for Albany, putting up 55 points in 61 games. Add to this Jon DiSalvatore (60 points in 76 games for Peoria) and Joey Tenute (28 goals and 67 points in 68 games for Hershey) who the team signed earlier and hopefully we have the basis for a successful minor league organization, which the franchise desperately needs to jumpstart their youth movement.
