The Phoenix Suns are still alive in the play-in chase.
The Los Angeles Lakers took care of the Dallas Mavericks, 112-97, April 9, in Luka Doncic's return to keep Phoenix in the play-in chase. Doncic scored 45 points in his first game in Dallas since the blockbuster deal before the 2024-25 trade involving Anthony Davis sent him to the Lakers.
The Suns (35-44) need to win their remaining three games and have Dallas (38-42) lose its final two games to claim the 10th seed and final play-in spot in the Western Conference.
Phoenix has the head-to-head tiebreaker over Dallas.
The Mavs play Toronto on April 11 and end the regular season April 13 at Memphis. Phoenix plays Oklahoma City on April 9, San Antonio on April 11 and April 13 at Sacramento.
The NBA-best Thunder (65-14) are resting leading MVP candidate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (left shin).
