Marion looked much better tonight...not a bad game at all overall I think...If Johnson and Marion can become consistant I think we can win more games than people think

I was at the game. Good one to be at. From my perspective (way up high) the officiating seemed to suck this game. JJ looked like he was getting hacked non stop, and didnt get a call till Many picked up those quick 4 fouls.

Jake had a monster rebound night, but sucked on offense. The ball must of slipped out of his hands, or he threw it away like 5-6 times. That last bounce pass was horrible. JJ had a clear drive to the basket :(

I like how Johnson stuck with it. Although he shot poorly, he came up when he was needed. Marion had a great night. He was all over the place on defense. He even did a good job when he had to guard Rasho or Duncan.

We shouldn't have even been in this game, but the guys never gave up. Was nice to see.

I agree with everything you said. JJ was getting man-handled, he was clearly frustrated but was nice to see he kept his focus on the game. Also nice that he came out in the 3rd and hit a 20ft'r off the bat after such a poor 1st half.

I'd really like to complain about the starting line-up D'Antoni has been using and him playing Googs over Harvey, but the team has done well the past 2 games when on paper we should have been blown out. I like what D'Antoni has been able to do with the players he has and can't wait to see what he can do with a stable line-up and time to work in his system.

I only caught a few minutes of the game from a distance at the pub (OK one of my bands was playing). It was very frustrating because they had a chance and worked so hard.

JJ made a play near the end of the game where he drove and made a layup that was very impressive. Afterwards the commentators talked about how he went right at Duncan and scored. That was fine, but the real key was that he went baseline which gave him an open path to the basket. A guy that can go either direction is a lot harder to guard than the typical situation where players want to go toward their dominant hand (usually right). If he keeps doing this, he will be putting up some pretty impressive numbers.

I think Shawn should be given credit for having a fantastic game. He shot 9 of 16, 1 of 1 for 3, and 4 of 4 from the line and had 11 rebounds. At the same time, Duncan only shot 11 of 24.

If anything, Casey's game was even more impressive because it was so unexpected: 6 of 6 including 5 of 5 for three's while being guarded by Bruce Bowen - one of the best defenders in the NBA. But that's not all, he held Bowen to 2 of 8 shooting.

Even Eisley performed well (finally): 3 of 6 shooting and 7 assists and only one turnover in 25 minutes. This was easily his best game as a Sun.

Voskuhl had 16 rebounds and led the Suns to an amazing 45 to 42 advantage on the boards.

It is really sad that the Suns should lose after putting up such a great effort. Perhaps if there had been professional refs...

Well, Casey wasn't really guarded by Bowen. Marion was for most the game, and JJ for a bit.

Actually, Duncan was guarding Casey for a large chunk of the game, which left him enough space and time to get off his shot.

SunsTzu, I think Googs has been playing in an effort to showcase him for Utah. That is the only thing I can think of. Similar to how Brevin Knight played a fair amount right before he was traded. However, if I am the Cs, I am hoping Utah didn't see this game. Nothing like Googs throwing the ball 8 feet past the hoop when he is a foot away.

I love this Suns team

No Amare and they lose to Denver in close one and then San Antonio in a close one.

When Amare gets back this team will be very very good.

I think Joe Johnson struggles against the Spurs because they do play such a physical game. It seems to get to his head. Fortunately though he displayed some nice toughness tonight and stuck with it. Just another step in the evolution of him as a player.

Want to know something scary? Casey is shooting 39.5% from 3 point land now. He is doing what the Suns drafted him to do and that is nice.

Marion was simply outstanding tonight. If him and Joe Johnson can both play well, I think the Suns are going to shock a lot of teams.

Towards the end of the game, for the first time ever, I actually saw Joe Johnson yell at an official and get upset over a call. I know Chaplin also pointed this out in the gametime chat. I really think he is growing a lot as a player now that Penny is out of the way. He's playing better and I think he is becoming mentally tougher and maybe even he will become a leader of sorts for this team. They already seem to be looking at him to take the big shot in crunch time.

I thought people said that Marion let Bowen driving by him left and right to create space for Spurs bigmen. :bigyawn: :(

That was me. If I had one complaint about the way the Phoenix Suns played last night it was that they continued to jump out of the gym trying to block long shots. It allowed Bruce Bowen and Tony Parker to drive to the basket all night long. The only other thing that bothered me was that especially in the first half they put the ball down on the floor in traffic to many times. It resulted in half of their turnovers.

I love the way the Phoenix Suns are playing right now. Someone already said that they would like to see what D'Antoni can do with a consistently healthy lineup. I would like to see that also. Unfortunately Amare Stoudemire has been struggling to stay healthy.

While Amare claims the real injury is to his big toe, he also admitted that he may have come back too quickly from the other injury.

I thought it was really bad in the 1st half. It got better in the 2nd haf until the end when the refs just robbed us blind (Jake passes to Casey who is grabbed and held by Ginobili so he can't get to the pass = Spurs ball & the ball is slapped out of JJ hands out of bounds and no ref saw the play so they gave the Spurs the ball).

Overall though this was a very hard fought game that the Suns deserved to win. It seems like this is how all our games against SA always go. The Suns play 5 on 8 and still make it competitive and should win, but seem to come up short.

When did he say that? Jim Grey asked him if he felt he came back too soon last night during the game and he said no, he was ready to come off when he did.

My impression is that he has been contradictory, perhaps as he has had time to think about it. No matter, I'm sure he will not push it this time.

"He" or maybe others who may have "his" ear. I wonder what Mom has to say? I'm sure it's good advice when someone is told not to come back too early, but if you tell a young kid not to go in the water because he/she might drown, they may never learn to swim.

.....I missed the game last night :( ...... sounds like it was a good one to watch..

It's on ESPN, which means ......

NO GARY BENDER!!!!

We should get something rolling to get Bender, Kempton and probably Del Negro fired.

Bender not even all the stupid things he says and repeats all the time. He is way too old.
He sounds like a dead man talking. When there is a highlight play you wouldn't even know if you are just listening.

On the block Amare had on Parker he basically just said "Oh there is a block".
Compare that to most of the announcers in the other top 10 highlight clips this week.
