This selection garnered both the player and the team a ton of coverage. I was wondering, when the Cardinals picked Jake Plummer, did it get a lot of national media attention? I realize that with Social Media times are different, but still interested.

I really, really hate this pick. I think he's going to be a star, and I didn't want the Stillers to get him. They got Pickens, too. Ugh.

You may be right, but I certainly hope not also. Pickett took advantage of a very defensively weak ACC. He has small hands, hence the reason why he wears gloves on both hands. I don’t believe he was highly sought after coming out of HS, otherwise he certainly wouldn’t have ended up at Pitt. I didn’t mind him at Pitt, but now that he’s a Stealer, I can’t root for him. FWIW, the locals here see him as a backup in the NFL. But then again, more of the locals (York, PA) are PSU fans, not Pitt fans.

Crap tends to workout for the Steelers.

I would have been scared to take him. He had one good season, and it's not like he didn't get reps earlier. Maybe he figured it out?

Pickens was such a Steelers pick, but when I started finding out about his personality...dude is a hothead and diva. They made this pick because Claypool's was not the same player last year and they might have to move on from him soon.

The Steelers literally do what I would want to do with receivers...build a stable of them and when one gets too expensive, let him walk about draft one to replace him.

Locally lots of attention and the national media mentioned it, but the Cardinals were a pretty bad team back then with very little national following.
