I hate to talk about what we should do next year with a playoff game in 2 weeks, but something has finally become crystal clear on a few things we need to do.
1. This is not a Warner bash, but we need to move on for 2 reasons.
A. We cannot afford to pay him. Every dime we have needs to go toward this defense. We will forever be pretenders no matter how good this offense plays with this pathetic excuse of a defense.
B. We need to see if Leinart is capable of leading this team and we need to find out now. If he isn't then we will need to replace him in 2010. I see guys like Flacco and Ryan leading their teams to fantastic seasons. All the tools are in place for Leinart to succeed.
2. Defense, defense and more defense. No stone should be left unturned to find a way to put together a defense that can stop the run. Free agents, draft, new co-ordinator, new cleats, WHATEVER! If we can accomplish this then it will allow our offense to be a complete balanced offense and not a 1 dimensional pass or die offense.
3. Emphasize run blocking from the first mini camp. Let every o-lineman on this team know that if they can't run block then they might as well start looking for another job.
We have changed coaches, qb's running backs, offensive line personel, defensive schemes but 2 things have remain constant over the last 10 years. We can't run the ball and we can't stop the run. Every playoff team can do at least 1 of those really well. The elite teams can do both. We can do neither. That trend has to change now!
