basically, as guys are released, we should collect a list of guys that could potentially fit the system

so far, I've seen NT Babatunde Oshinowo who could be a 3rd guy behind Watson and Branch (325 lbs)

Look for DEs, CBs and LBs out there.

as for LBs, unfortunately, I dont know what size to look for, considering that Whiz said that Calvin was starting because he's "bigger"

so I wonder if we're looking for guys that are 270 lbs, or 250 lbs?

as for Oshinowo, I was thinking more to take Kolo's spot

mildly surprising is that FS Will Demps was cut by NY

Rod Green cleared waivers days ago, and they didnt pick him up

OT Rob Pettiti (started 16 games as a rookie in 05 with Dallas) was cut by NO
which means hes a FA right? i thought players with 3 yrs or more expererince are automatically FA's when they are released?

TE - Jason Dunn of KC is rumored to be a possible cut in KC. He is a 10 year vet that would instantly become the best blocking TE on the roster easily.

I dont know if he is injured or not though havent followed KC this preseason, so I am basing my opinion on last year.

Dunn has had a long career as a great blocker (probably better than some of our backup OTs) but I think he's pretty old and broken down at this point.

He would still be a better blocker.

Well, the only way to tell would be to bring him in and take a look. But if KC cut him, I'd tend to think he's close to the end of the line.

As you can tell I dont have that much faith in the blocking abilities of our current quartet.

Becuase of that If he can pass a physical he is good to go for me. Also being 10veteran that gets 850K minimum 350K of that would be paid by the NFL and not count towards the cap. Its the NFLPAs way of trying to keep veterans around longer.

One thing that needs to be remembered is that we most likely are only looking at Waiver wire claims to help finish off the roster for game 1.

We most likely will not look at UFA's until after the first game when their salary wouldnt be gauranteed if they get injured or cut. We sign them before game 1 and they are gauranteed.

anyone want to bet Whis goes after a guy from Pitt?

If so, it'll be no different than it was with Green going after Minn. guys.

I agree with you. I'd bring him in for a look. I'm just skeptical, because he's getting pretty ancient. By NFL standards.

If Whis does go after Pitt guys that he knows well, they just cut C Chukky Okobi (entered camp as their starter), or FBs Verron Haynes or John Kuhn (both underrated). It would appear that Jerame Tuman made the squad, unless I am missing something.

LB Earl Everett from Cincy

SS Darnell Bing from SF (potentially backup to AW? almost the same exact size)
i could see us going after Earl Everett,Rod Hood,Ronald Stanley,,Chukky Okobi,George Hall,Ian Scott,Rob Petitti...but this is just a guess.hopefully we go after some 3-4 linebackers and get some depth at tackle..and btw i put Ian Scott on there because i think we could move him to DE and DT

We already have a Rod Hood on the team. Is there another one?

Scott evidently is still an Eagle. According to SIRIUS, the Eagle website screwed up and mistakenly identified 5 players who they said were cut (but weren't) and conversely, 5 "survivors" were breathing easier until they suddenly found themselves gonzo).
