And no, I'm not talking about Oliver Ross.

Luke Petitgout. Is he great? No. Is he better than what we have? Yes. Will he get Leinart killed? No.

Marc Colombo. Yes, he's had a major knee injury in the past but so did Stinchcomb. He's proven that he is recovered and can play.

Mike Gandy. A big body with versatility. Not the "ideal" solution but, once again, a far cry better than Oliver Ross.

Max Starks. He'd cost a 3rd rounder (restricted FA) but Whiz knows him well and I sincerely doubt we'd find a bigger, stronger, more ready-to-play guy in the 3rd round this year.

Pork Chop Womack. Again, not exactly the ideal choice. But he's a very good run-blocker and he might be able to hold the fort for one year until we find a replacement and shift him inside to OG or RT.

All of these options are vastly preferable to paying Leonard Davis $50 million.

Starks got the 1st rounder RFA tender.

i think Ross will be the LT for this year until Joe Staley is ready. I think that's what the Cards are planning unless Joe Thomas drops to us.

I think you are on to something.

I've mentioned before, that O. Ross was surprisingly adequate when he stepped in at l-L-tackle.

In other news, Leinart just called his agent to make sure his Disability and Life Insurance policies are paid up.

i hope he has a low deductible. Some of Whiz's comments lead me to believe that they are going to go with Ross. Whiz used the old blind-side being for the RT with Leinart argument and that he and Grimm are familiar with Ross. I know mock drafts don't mean anything but i think it's amazing that everyone i have looked at has us taking Staley in round 2. I guess the Cards must've shown alot of interest in him at the combine even though he didn't work out.

I think the mock drafts are just making a logical projection. Everyone knows we need OT help, and Staley is a developmental guy who will definitely be going in the #32-45 range of the draft. They're just putting two and two together.

Ed, if you mention Colombo's injury history, please do the same with LP. Main reason the Giants let him go.

That was Langston Walker.

OK good, because Kenyatta Walker is a much much better player. I think K. Walker would be a good signing, my mistake I just remember seeing a Walker signed with the Bills, Langston played RT for the Raiders right?

I have a link (below) of available free agent offensive tackles. You can also access other free agents and their positions. Here are a few that I wouldn't mind seeing here:

Jordan Black
Marc Colombo
Luke Pettigout
Mike Rosenthal
Kenyatta Walker
Floyd Womack

Here's the link: http://proxy.espn.go.com/nfl/fa?positionId=46

I didn't like Langston Walker at all...he was horrible at RT last year. So bad, they are moving Gallery back to RT and getting Sims back to play LT.

Kenyatta Walker is the best option out there at T...I think he is better than Pashos and Stinchcomb when healthy but he blew out his knee in game 3 last year and I don't know what his medical status is...Trueblood stepped in for him and played solid for 13 games, making KW expendable.

Why not sign three offensive lineman in free agency. The Cards have the money to sign Gandy, Black, and A. Johnson. They could still add an OL on the first day of the draft. Under that scenario the Cards OL could look like this:

LT-Gandy-Gorin or Ross
LG-Brown-E. Brown, Liewienski or UND Free Agent
C-Leckey-Johnson
RG-Wells-Lutui
RT-Black-Draft Choice

That's debatable, but it's not really the issue. Is a guy on the cheap like Womack preferable to Franchising Davis for a year when we maybe have some better options.

For the record...The Cards really loved Pork Chop coming out of college.

Thats because Denny thought they could draft actual Pork Chops. He was looking at apple sauce in the next round too.

You may be right Ed but until we sign someone as good or better I remain concerned. Do you have some reason to think we will sign one of these guys?

All of the remaining OT have injury problems. Therefore, to even have a shot at a ok OL, they'll need to get 2 of the injured/cheap OT and then draft 1 or 2 more. Of the 4, one will end up on IR before the season starts. Hopefully the combination of them will make it far enough through the season that the new rookie has time to be trained up and look reasonable. But, no matter what, expect this year to be a long year.

On the good side, I'll get to see Warner play some as Matt will get injured again.
