Broncos | Plummer Removes Tillman Decal - from www.KFFL.com
Fri, 1 Oct 2004 21:35:06 -0700

Denver Broncos QB Jake Plummer has removed the No. 40 decal he has worn on the back of his helmet honoring former Arizona Cardinals teammate Pat Tillman, according to the Associated Press. The league's long-standing policy prohibits personal messages on uniforms or helmets, and violators could face fines up to $5,000. "We do that because we need a consistent rule," league spokesman Greg Aiello said. "You can't just pick and choose, and say one message is okay, but another isn't. Where would you draw the line?"

He will do something, I commend Jake for leaving it on there as long as he did. He can't take the fines thoughout the whole season. He can afford it yes, but it would be a distraction more than a sign for Pat IMO. Pat Tillman would tell him to let it go.

Will always be near to Jake (in his heart) that's for sure! He does'nt need to make a public statement.

The league already said that everyone could wear the number for one week and the Cards could wear it for the entire season. So where is it that the league has to decide if it is acceptable? What a bunch a weenies.

Who would it have hurt if they allowed anyone who wanted continue to wear the #40 to wear it throughout this season, Cardinals player or not?

Great statement. I was hoping he would keep it on all year and pay the fines, but you are so correct on that. R.I.P Pat

You bring a very good point to this issue. Sounds like a double standard to me.

That was my point exactly, BIM. I understand the need for rules, but if it's good enough for one game, then why not give the players the option to do it all season this year?
