The Cards have about $93M committed at this point (which excludes the Levi and Porter contracts) and leaving them relatively $30M under the CAP. The issue is not the CAP but the Cards overall football operations budget, which is unknown. In other words, how much the Bidwill's are willing to spend in a given year on bonus.

Levi isn't under contract and I don't believe Porter is either, so they aren't on the books anyway. Kolb obviously....Dockett?? Wilson?? Don't resign CC?? 35 million is alot of space to clear (without knowing our cap situation for next year). That being said, Manning has always restructured to help the Colts, guess he'd do it here also, especially considering it would be his last drive for a championship.

Levi is under contract.

A contract which would obviously be renegotiated given the 2012 CAP hit.

Porter is also under contract, but likely to be cut.

He won't take 35 million for one year. They'll cut Kolb, Heap, and Bradley and be set to franchise CC, get a Manningham type WR, and draft 3 OL.

It may cost us our ability to sign CC longterm but if Peytons healthy thru duration of 3 or. 4 year contract is worth it.

Wrap it up championship.

I don't think we will cut heap, nor will we need to. Cutting Kolb and Bradley frees up a ton of room by itself. And J Peezy won't be back either, unless it is as a part of the coaching staff (which I would LOVE).

agreed on every part. But I don't think Whiz would hire Porter on as a coach sadly

His knowledge of the system would buy him that credit I think. He basically was a coach this past season.
lol, I dunno what Whiz's logic is on hiring coaches. We're keeping a position coach that was unable to get the offense to put up 30 points once all season as OC and interviewing former head coaches, one being a former Cards OC, for the QB coach job...:mulli:

30 points? That would have been a feast for us. The Cards went over 21 points only 5 times and scored less than 21 in half the games averaging 19 a game! They only averaged 18 a game in 2010.

Goofy Cardinals. Scored 27 points or more only 3 times in 2011 and lost two of those games. :bang:

OT: How the heck did the Giants make the Super Bowl ranking 25th in points allowed in 2011? Just goes to show that in today's NFL Offense sells tickets and Defense doesn't win squat.

I don't understand some of the craziness on this board.

Is it a long shot? Well, I believe many teams will be in the hunt should he become a FA. That said, AZ is a damn good option for PM. Look, our defense is G2G (good to go). Our biggest issue has been under center. The coaching is there, regardless of what many think.

PM is the best QB to EVER play the game. He has a ridiculous football mind, and an even more ridiculous attention to detail. If he becomes available, this is a dream come true for AZ.

If 18 lands in a cardinal uniform, we WILL win at least A superbowl. The elusive missing piece is right here.

Of course, his health is the biggest part of it...

lol, that's what I mean. Miller has done nothing to impress. Haley has a winning history here. Would seem an easy choice from the outside looking in

and yeah, regardless of who takes the trophy home this year. Offense wins championships now apparently

Miller's offense struggled last year while Haley was busy breaking records!

Yep, lowest points scored in Chief's franchise history! Holla! They averaged nearly a touchdown less per game than the Cardinals did.

I am not crazy about Miller, but Todd Haley is no miracle worker.

I'm not calling him a "miracle worker", simply saying that he sure appears to be the most qualified of the 2 for the AZ OC position

To be fair its hard to score points when you lose 2000 yards of offense the second game of the season and then have to start Tyler Palko for 4 games. I don't know for sure but I would bet that a major part of the Chiefs offense for 2011 was based on the play of Jamaal Charles.

I have to say, when all this Manning talk started, I though no chance..

The longer and lounder these Rumors get the more I think the Cards have a legit chance...

Sooo crazy, but if he passes the physical, you pay him 15 mill a year for three years and go from there...

The GREAT news is we will have an enitre week to woo Manning before we have to make a choice on Kolb, if we land him, show Kolb the door and lets get to work...

On ESPN this morning they broke down the potential teams, and believe it or not, the Cardinals are the best situation on paper for Manning.. combine that with more cap room than most other teams and a solid coaching staff (to be joined by a GREAT QB coach) and we got ourselves a dynamic opportunity..

I still think is health is going to be a major concern. What happens if Manning doesn't know until July whether he can play or not? Do we cut Kolb in March and then hope that Peyton gets well and decides to play for us?
I would think though that the longer it takes for Peyon to know if he is going to play or not means that his price tag will drop along with it. Teams can't hold that much salary cap space open on the possibility that he may be cleared to play.

I get all giddy just thinking about the possibility of getting Manning & him being able to mentor Skelton.

Immediate success + (the chance of) long term success. YAY!

Please don't anyone bring up a Warner/Leinart comparison. Skelton and Leinart are nothing alike with regards to attitude.

player B is raw john skelton right?

I expected him to be horrible due to pedigree, expected opposite of Lienart. Feel skelton will keep improving. Could be wrong. Also liked mccown and thought hed get better.

For the record, I am not saying they are completely alike, just that regardless of how they get there (obviously Skelton has a stronger arm more mobile, Leinart in theory, more accurate) they are very similar in almost every single statistical category...

Even alternative stats like their YPA 6.45/6.76 are very similar..

The one category that Skelton clearly out performed Leinart is rushing 177-55, but Leinart makes Tom Brady look mobile

I was referring to attitude, not statistics.
