Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder A.J. Pollock injured his right quadriceps during his rehab assignment Monday, perhaps delaying his return from the disabled list.

Pollock, who has been sidelined for more than a month with a groin injury, felt tightness while playing in just his second game for Triple-A Reno. He had hoped to return to the Diamondbacks as early as this weekend.

Pollock, 29, was batting .299 with two home runs, 26 runs scored and 11 stolen bases before suffering a Grade 1 groin strain on May 14. The Diamondbacks have gone 23-8 without Pollock.

What is wrong with this guy. I can't remember a more fragile player.

I think the debate if tg2e team should try to keep Goldy or Pollock, if they can't keep both, is over.

Some guys are just genetically predisposed to injuries. Their muscles and ligaments are just weaker.

Always amazes me how healthy Fitz has been over his career. Hes been tackled 1,000+ times and he stays mostly healthy.

We're gonna need Aj, even if we only get 90 games from him

I'm very glad the FO decided to not give AJ a long term contract. I was very vocal in being against it at the time and I know there was a lot of pressure from the fan base to foolishly throw money at him.

Does he have any trade value? He has a good name and reputation despite his injury woes. Surely we can get something for him.

And on a sidenote Ahmed broke his hand.

Oh no (in my dryest voice possible). what a shame. We lost the guy that strands 15 runners per game.

Defense will take a hit. Looks like Marte was called up from Reno:

He was hitting .338/.391/.514 in Reno this year. Possibly Wally Pip situation?

Wally Pipp was good. Ahmed sucks

The number of guys Ahmed strands on base, having another hitter in the lineup will get us 2-3 more runs per game. Thats worth the defensive liability

Ahmed is not technically the starting shortstop though. Owings has more starts there this year I believe.

Cool. Good thing they didn't listen to your advice to sell off everybody.

Let's hope so, right? Goldschmidt is having quite the resurgence given recent history. I think he and Pollock (who's not doing much for the club) were the only ones I thought had enough trade value to move.

I know they'll have a better chance to compete long term without that Pollock albatross of a contract some on here wanted to hang around the organizations neck.
