What are some of the surprises you guys see happening. Something outside of the norm, something outside of what the internet is parroting or rumor mongering. Give two somewhat surprises then one huge one.

1. Earl Thomas and Jared Odrick go in the top 15.

2. Steelers pick a WR in the 1st round - not very highly publicized but they are heavily scouting the top end of the WR class. All of the top end talent has had a private workout and done heavy back ground checks on. Keep this in mind - The Steelers tend to draft guys for the purpose of training them for the future, Hines Ward just turned 34, Santonio Holmes is on a one year deal, looking for a large contract, and facing a 4 game suspension. WR seems very likely considering their WR core and their history of how they draft.

3. Time for the big surprise shot call - Pierre Paul falls out of the 1st round. That is right I said it. The guy looks super raw on film, has only played one year of football really, and for a guy who was supposed to be super athletic thus negating his rawness he put up some pretty poor numbers minus the 40 yard dash. Agility drills and Explosion drills were very pedestrian. Plus the consensus among scouts is that the guy came off very bad in interviews at the combine, proday, and private workouts.

1) Dan Williams falls through the first half of the first round, and maybe through the first 20 picks. Teams just don't like taking players high who can't rush the passer.

2) Four quarterbacks are drafted in the first round. And three will be off before the Cards pick.

3) The Arizona Cardinals draft Terrance Cody, DT, Alabama. But they do it in the second round.

1- Tebow goes before Colt McCoy and in round 1

2- Anthony Davis falls out of round 1

3- The Cardinals trade UP in round 1 thinking they have to jump up to get McClain.

I can very well see this happening as long as it's not in the Top 10 (which it shouldn't be).

1. Dez Bryant doesn't go top 15 and slides all the way to Dallas

2. SF passes on C.J. Spiller and doesn't draft a RB at all.

Now for the big shocker

3. The Raiders actually draft smart instead of drafting the best athlete. In fact, they don't take a single player who ran under a 4.4 the entire draft.

DTD, I totally disagree with the Faders doing something smart come draft day, when it has to do with ADavis. He is outsmarting himself right out of the NFL...

Not sure just yet on the two little surprises, BUT the big one is that YOUR Arizona Cardinals WILL have a pass rush coming out of this draft.

No more looking OK against the passers in the NFC West, then being run out of the house by a playoff team that is adequate to really decent.

We have already improved our coverage, with the signing of Rohdes, and with DRC getting healthy and STRONGER as well.

With Porter, and Haggans on the edge, with DD and CC at ends, our rush should be formidable. If we can pick up a real pass rusher in the draft, and we see some real improvement in Brown, and Davis, then that rush will be formidable AND deep by seasons end.

Now that we have Rhodes playing center field, AW is free to play into any scheme that the DC chooses, as he no longer has to stay back in coverage to make up for Rolle's shortcomings.

I would love to see us come up with a BIG hitting ILB to take over for Hayes and his bad back. That would really be nice to see behind a big run stuffing NT like a healthy Watson and maybe someone from the draft.

The Cardinals select LT Roger Saffold 26th overall, filling the need for a top tackle.

ILB Surprise Package:

McClain or Weatherspoon is there for us to take at #26 and Spike is there in the 3rd for us. We revamp the inside of our LB corps in the first 2 days of the draft.

Clausen drops in the draft, a la Brady Quinn. Either he falls to the Vikings at #30 or someone trades back into the 1st round to take him in the 20's

I think one of the biggest surprises of this draft will be---that because of the new Prime Time first round setup---the lack of trades that will be made (context: where teams trade out of the first round).

I can see a team trading back within the first round---but I think teams will have second thoughts about trading out of the round altogether. The best scenario where that make sense would be if a player were involved in the trade.

Each team will want its ten minutes on the clock---and will want to be featured and talked about and will want to unveil their pick in grand style, with interviews (right on the set for the players there, by video for the players at home---where some cameras are bound to be---and by phone).

There will be a PR aspect to this...and teams that trade out of the first round will be subject to a PR fallout as well.

I agree with everything you said about wanting to add an elite pass rusher to our already strong core in that position in order to set us up as a top pass defending team. However i've highlighted that last section of your post as it is unrealistic to achieve all that and get an pass rusher all in the first few rounds. If you are referring to the whole draft the likelihood of us hitting on all three positions is likely. The best chance we have is to draft the biggest needs in r1 and r2 and then get projects from r3 onwards. You might get top value in the 3rd if a top quality player falls for one reason or another.

My three:

1. OT Roger Staffold is picked in the first round
2. Dez Bryant falls to late first round (possibly to Pitt or Jets)
3. McClain falls to Arizona

Well its called suprises that you could see happening. I think the first two are reasonable and the last one is supposed to be a shock and McClain falling to us would be that. Ive tried the Vegas route several times and nearly lost the kids so you should prolly take everything i say with a pinch of salt.

1) All of the talk out of Jacksonville about drafting the best available athlete is just that, talk. Del Rio wants to win, Weaver needs to sell tickets. Weaver's the boss. With that in mind they make the biggest reach in the draft and take Teabow.
2) SF takes Clausen with their pick 1a, hoping to benefit from the luck of the Irish once more.
3) Only on running back is taken in the first 50 picks.

Interesting calls. Tebow to Jacksonville would be a big shock tbh eventhough a lot of people are now thinking Tim goes higher then expected. Claussen to the niners wouldnt really shock me as they do need a QBOF and Clausen is about as it good as it gets in this draft. The last one doesnt happen. Several teams need RB's and i see no way that both Spiller and Matthews fall out of the top 50. Personally i even see Jahvid Best going in the top of the second round. Really interesting calls though.

ILB Sean Lee goes somewhere in the last 1/3 of the first round potentially to the Cardinals. I just heard on NFL Network's Path to the Draft "Draft Buzz" that Sean Lee is universally considered a top inside linebacker and a guy who can come in and start from day #1.

Dez Bryant goes in Top 12, Jimmy Claussen goes 7 to the Browns, and Brian Price falls out of the first round.

That'd be a bit of a reach but i could live with it as i do really like Sean Lee. I was hoping we could nab him in the second but the way his draft has been rising i cant see anyway he gets past the middle of the second.
