I'm half Slavic (My grandparents hail from the former country Czechoslovakia) and this is some of the stuff we go for, some I'm not fond of:

Haluski, cabbage and noodles, it smells gross and I don't really eat it except to force it down for my grandmother

Bigos, more of polish dish but we have this in our culture. This stuff I love, with different sausages

I'm mostly Irish. I do colcannon on St. Patrick's day.

I also do a lot of baked Irish goods ... scones, tea brack, whiskey cake. I find that stuff more appealing than cabbage.

White rice with black beans (you need ham hocks in the beans to make them extra yummy)

I hate when people say that.. It just sounds graphic an unappealing.. Washing what down? Food particals stuck in ya throat? Disgusting thought..


And plus.. Your not suppose to drink any beverages until at least 15 minutes after eating they say if you truley wanna be healthy..

Czech side of family, plum dumplings! And, yes, that is melted butter and cinnamon sugar on them. (I'm not sure what's in the middle of the plate. Ice cream maybe? But, it's NOT a dessert!) Give me a side of sausage from Brandt's Meat Market in Central Kansas for the German side of the family, and it's the best meal possible!
