After getting Carson Palmer, I don't see the Cardinals drafting a QB in this year's draft class.

Thus my mock has changed: http://www.arizonasportsfans.com/vb...wist-also-im-bored-192953.html?highlight=mock

to this:

1 - Chance Warmack, OG
2 - Alex Okafor, OLB
3 - Travis Kelce, TE
4 - Shaun Williams, S
5 - Garrett Gilkey, G/T
6 - Michael Williams, TE
6 - Vince Williams, ILB

Make it happen
--------------------------------------------------------------

One last thing about Carson Palmer:

Our current QB's on the roster going into next season

Carson Palmer
Drew Stanton
Brian Hoyer

The QB situation going into last season

Kevin Kolb
John Skelton
Ryan Lindley

Makes you think that maybe the Cardinals were on to something by cleaning house. That is a HUGE difference at the position.

We will draft a QB in my opinion, except now it will be under much better conditions with an actual starting QB to ease him into the flow and learn.

Palmer should make no difference for the Cards in how they draft.

If they rate Geno they should still pick him and let him learn for a year. Palmer is a stop-gap solution and should not influence the long-term decisions.

That's how I see it - except that I never thought Geno was in the mix in the first place. I wouldn't be shocked if we drafted Matt Scott in the middle rounds (& even traded up a little to get him - if they like him that much ).

definitely happy on offense, but the D moves, still not thrilled

If I put the ASFN favorite safety prospect, Phillip Thomas at #4 would that be better ? :D

Yes, I am being a wiseguy, I'll give myself the :mulli:

I am not budging on Alex Okafor, that guys is a stud. If we get Warmack and Okafor.....ho boy! Game on. That will start making this roster look at little more complete.

Why would Palmer change how we draft? It's not like we got Aaron Rogers. Palmers not the Long term answer. Draft the same.

Eric Reid

I want one of these guys to be our second rounder

lol

nah, Rhodes will not be replaced by a mid-late round pick. Maybe AW, only due to age. But I don't see a good replacement for Rhodes this year at all

the only change is now if the QB is a longshot, dont bother. Before, we kinda HAD to take a QB somewhere regardless of the potential.

the only thing that make the QB position look better is Palmer... the other two are still shiny turds.

I don't think it is too much of a jump to say

Palmer is better than Kolb

Stanton is better than Skelton

Hoyer is better than Lindley

I believe our pick will be Lane Johnson, OT. We will cause a stir amongst Cards fans here, by passing on Warmack.

It is just common sense, an immediate starter at LT with huge upside, improves 3 positions on our line. LT is improved, Levi to RT is an improvement, and Massie (or Levi) to OG is an improvement. A LT is worth twice as much as any OG.

We can always pick up some good depth at OG, or even another starter there, in later rounds.

K9 mentioned this in another post and I'm beginning to think this is the way we'll go. It makes good sense.

So, you are saying that you think Anthony Clement is worth twice as much as Larry Allen ?

Not buying it.

Lane Johnson is only worth twice as much as Warmack if Johnson is actually twice as good as Warmack. The problem is, Warmack is a better player than Johnson.

We have adequate tackles, but the worse guards in the league.

I am not sure how this all works out to being the better pick.

Because this years QB class is weak at best why reach for a QB, next year stands to be a much better QB class no need to press for a position we don't need, drafting for need leads to bad drafts, thats why.

Well, its not like we can't still select a very good OG/C with our 2nd or 3rd pick. I think Johnson + best OG in 2nd or 3rd round is many time stronger than Warmack + best OT that would be available in 2nd/3rd round.

But that is just my opinion. I certainly will be excited to get Warmack. But from all I have heard our new coach saying, I am leaning strongly toward the Cards taking Johnson over Warmack. We will know in a few weeks now.

I don't like it but I also think that has a very realistic shot at happening. I have a problem with taking the 3rd rated guy at his position in the top 7 of the draft. In fact, if others declared, he'd be about the 5th-6th rated at his position. Whereas Warmack and Cooper were going to be 1-2 no matter what.

I do think the Cards are hell bent on taking OL in round 1 and that could be a big mistake if a guy like Jordan is sitting there.

Its NOT going to happen and I will personally guarantee it!

Levi is your left tackle. And only an idiot would move our starting RT whom every scout pretty much stated he is a RT only prospect who started to play rather well and gave up ZERO sacks in his last 8 games of last season.

I hope so. I think our pick will be Warmack or Cooper and I could easily see Cooper being the pick.

No way you draft Johnson you don't take the 3rd best player at his position with the 7th overall pick, if Lewan and Matthews had stayed in this draft then he's at best the 5 best tackle. warmack is just that good
