It was a strong opening salvo Sunday in St. Petersburg for Power, who struggled through most of last season until finally breaking out of his slump during the homestretch. He had to beat Team Penske teammate Helio Castroneves off pit lane during stops under caution, and the only hiccup was on the first restart of the race. It caused traffic to stack up behind him and led to a crash involving rookie Jack Hawksworth and Marco Andretti.
