We don't look top 5. I'm still nervous about our secondary and our O-line giving up too much pressure.

Remember when the Cards went undefeated for 3 games then lost all the way?! Wasn’t that McGuiness?
I was thinking of the 4-2 season with Dave McGinnis in 2002 where we got a Fox Sunday special with the team doing "the wing," and then managed one more win all season, ha.

I’d be happy in the 15-20 range after week one. Let’s revisit this after 5-6 games, we should have a better idea of who we really are

Did we even make it into the top 5 in 2015? Golly.
The Cardinals were top 5 for almost the entire season, peaking at #2 in week 17. So close, yet so far!

GREAT graphs here for 2002-2015. Unforunately, they haven't been updating it since then. Just don't compare the Cardinals' rankings to those of the Patriots', unless you're looking to feel sad!

Heavens I remember them going into Thanksgiving against the Dolphins then lost every game after that was Coryells last year I believe score was like 56 to 20 or something along those lines they just needed one more win to make the playoffs didn't happen though

Yep. That game signaled the end of Coryell’s time in St. Louis. He had begged the FO to bolster the D. He snapped on Bidwill after that thrashing. We had a ton of injuries, but never won another game in ‘77. Old man Bidwill was a stubborn mule & fired Coryell. We then sucked until Lomax was drafted. Bill Bidwill may have been a good man, but he was a God awful owner.

I will say that if our defense can hold up, we stay healthy, and Kyler continues to improve, being a top 10 team isn't out of the realm of possibility.

I guess I must be more optimistic than most. I am pretty sure the team is already top 10 - 5 is too high, but if we play like we are capable in the coming weeks 5th could easily become a legit ranking.

I worry about our secondary, pass rush outside of Jones, and we have a 2nd year QB. I don't believe you are way off what we can be, but it is a little premature for me.

Here's one that has us at 8

https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...kings-patriots-cardinals-seahawks/5801428002/

8. Cardinals (21): Yes, QB Kyler Murray could be on track for big sophomore year. But Arizona's defense deserves ample credit for knocking off Niners.

8 on Prisco's list as well.

Winning at San Francisco to open the season is a message to the rest of the division. Kyler Murray is going to be in the MVP mix

Power rankings are based on results and the weight of those that you beat. With the Niners being a top ranked team we were always going to be pretty high.

Nice to see top 5 for a change, better than 25.
