Anyone else think it is great to have too many options for next year.

My starting 5

Kennedy
Hudson
Collmenter
Parker
Bauer

If Collmenter or Parker struggle, then Skaggs is up by June 1st.

Joe Saunders gets traded.

Saunders contract is up this year, I don't think they offer arbitration. However, when Towers was asked about trading for Houston's Rodriguez he mentioned that they would rather work out a contract with Joe this off-season.

It is an interesting issue you bring up, do we fly without a net and go with two unproven starter at the end of the rotation? All righties??

Pretty easy, IMO.

Kennedy
Hudson
Saunders
Collmenter
Bauer (Or one of the other prospects.)

I'll worry about next year when this year is over. Let's enjoy what is happening now.

Collmenter goes to BP for elite 7th/8th set-up
Skaggs/Owings long relivers
Putz remain closer

I think we trade Parker/Miley for hitting prospects at SS and 2nd. Drew is as good as gone this offseason in my opinion. He has become too expensive for what he is, regardless of him being one of my favorite DBacks.

A problem we could face if Saunders is traded is that we won't have any lefties in the starting rotation... unless Skaggs works his way up. Or, we somehow trade or grab a quality lefty FA. I don't think Gibby will go into a season with an all-righty rotation. So, Miley or Skaggs or a trade or a quality lefty FA will have to be there...

Kennedy
Hudson
Collmenter
Lefty (Skaggs, Miley, Trade or FA)
Bauer/Parker

The DBacks are going to have to pony up a LOT of money for pitchers in 2012. Not one of the current pitchers (besides Putz) is inked for 2012 and pitchers like Kennedy and Hudson are making peanuts (< $500k). To put it into perspective, Zach Duke (outpitched badly by Miley imo) is making $3.5M this season - [nearly] more than the entire current staff combined if you remove Putz and Saunders! I don't have Micah's numbers, so I am not positive on the entire staff, but the aces (Kennedy, Hudson, Hernandez, Collmenter(?)) are making a combined $2M dollars...

For reference, here is one spreadsheet [https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=tnUURWBOawaGbKXOD6W_Psg&output=html] I found on the salaries.

So I got a question, when it says "arb 1, arb 2, ect.." that means technically we can't bolt for another team unless we say so?

if so I feel comfortable with 4 years more with hudson/Kennedy, if not and they could both be UFAs I feel a little queezy...

Anyone have more information about how this works in baseball?

Thanks!
