Mar. 25—HUNTSVILLE — Decatur scored seven runs in the first inning on the way to a big 9-0 win over Lee-Huntsville in baseball action Monday.

The Red Raiders started the game with three straight walks before Harris Penley drove in the first run to start the scoring.

Penley finished the game with a hit and an RBI and picked up the win on the mound, allowing no hits and no runs with four strikeouts in two innings.

Grayson Marion finished the game with two hits, including a triple, and scored three runs. Ben Strickland added two RBIs.



Decatur Heritage baseball 12, Lexington 0: Decatur Heritage outhit its area foe 11-1 on Monday to start the area series with a win in five innings.

Olsen Howard homered and doubled, finishing with two hits, three RBIs and three runs scored. Ian Wickwire added two hits and two RBIs.

Paxton Tarver pitched the complete game, allowing just one hit and striking out 10 batters.



Mae Jemison softball 16, Decatur 10: Decatur couldn't pull out a win in a high-scoring affair on Monday.

Josey Hendrix had a big day, hitting two home runs and two doubles and finishing with two RBIs.

Lizzie Kresch added a solo home run.
