Apr. 9—PRICEVILLE — For the first time since 2009, the Lawrence County Red Devils celebrated an area baseball championship on Tuesday.

With the game tied 2-2 after four innings, Lawrence County erupted for seven runs in the top of the fifth en route to a 10-2 win over Priceville to secure the Class 5A, Area 14 title and a home playoff series when the state tournament begins next week.

Ben Newton went 2-for-4 with three RBIs to lead the Red Devils offensively, while Wyatt Knight added a double and two RBIs. Parker Frost and Caden Norwood had one hit and one RBI each and Tripp Engle had a pair of singles.

Elijah Tuckier picked up the win for Lawrence County, allowing two runs on three hits over six innings. He allowed three walks while striking out six.

Tyde Borden hit a solo home run for Priceville and Sawyer Mims doubled and drove in a run.



Hartselle 7, Athens 0: Jace Meadows tossed six shutout innings for Hartselle on Tuesday, giving up just two hits and two walks while striking out seven.

Cole Miles had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs for the Tigers, while Ty Marsh added one double and two RBIs.

Ashton Dickey, John Lawrence Chittam and Walker Fleming had one hit each for Athens.



Lindsay Lane 4-5, Decatur Heritage 0-7: Wyatt Wallace pitched 5 2/3 scoreless innings for Lindsay Lane in game one on Tuesday, allowing three hits and four walks with five strikeouts.

Cooper Abernathy had a hit and two RBIs for the Lions, while Wallace added a double and one RBI.

Dylan Germany, Bryant Sparkman, Ford Sparkman and Paxton Tarver had one hit each for Decatur Heritage.

Tarver had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs to lead Decatur Heritage in game two. Harrison Hardy had a single and two RBIs for the Eagles, while Germany and Landon Henry added one hit and one RBI each.

Hudson Jones had a hit and two RBIs for Lindsay Lane.



West Limestone 6, Westminster Christian 2: West Limestone scored six runs on the bottom of the sixth inning to really from a two-run deficit and pick up a win on Tuesday.

Preston Moore singled and drove in two runs for the Wildcats, while Wesley Dean and Landon Smith added two hits and one RBI each. Braxtyn Burroughs pitched 4 2/3 innings for hitless relief to earn the win, striking out six.



Sumiton Christian 23, Falkville 1: Bron Gandy had a pair of hits and one RBI for Falkville on Tuesday.

Reed Dillard added two hits for the Blue Devils, who were outhit 10-4 in the loss.



Addison 10-13, Athens Bible School 0: Luke Murrell doubled to account for Athens Bible's lone hit in game one on Tuesday. Ethan Barnes had one hit for the Trojans in the finale.



Scottsboro 12, Ardmore 2: Cole Clinard led Ardmore with two hits and one RBI on Tuesday.

Skyler Jean doubled and drove in a run for the Tigers, while Keaton Johns added a pair of singles.



Fairview 15, Brewer 5: Cole Drinkard and Nathan Butler had two hits and one RBI each for Brewer on Tuesday.



Whitesburg Christian 5, Elkmont 1: Corder Hobbs doubled twice and drove in a run for Elkmont on Tuesday.



Muscle Shoals 11, Decatur 4: Trey Greenwell went 4-for-4 with one RBI and two stolen bases for Decatur on Tuesday. Harris Penley had two hits and two RBIs for the Red Raiders.



Good Hope 7, East Lawrence 3: Reece Hamilton had one hit and one RBI for East Lawrence on Tuesday. Sam Lowery added a pair of singles for the Eagles.



Softball



Danville 11, West Morgan 3: Tamara Hutto had three hits, including a double, and three RBIs to lead Danville on Tuesday.

Izzy Guest went 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles for the Hawks and Kate Randolph pitched seven innings for the win, striking out three.

Macie Treadway doubled and drove in one run for West Morgan.



Lindsay Lane 13, Lexington 0: Briley Miller went 4-for-4 with three RBIs for Lindsay Lane on Tuesday.

Lily Jackson had three hits and two RBIs for the Lions, while Madi Tucker added two hits and two RBIs. Leigha Carder pitched five innings for the win.



Brewer 8, East Limestone 7: AB Anton had two hits, including a double, and three RBIs for Brewer on Tuesday.

Karli Staton had a hit and two RBIs for the Patriots, while Makenzie Irman added two hits and one RBI.

Grace Bielat homered, singled and drove in four runs for East Limestone.



Lawrence County 6, Russellville 1: Bella Cross homered, drove in two runs and pitched seven innings for the win for Lawrence County on Tuesday.

Cross allowed just one run on four hits, walking three and striking out nine. Ava Templeton had a hit and two RBIs for the Red Devils, while McKinley McCaghren added three hits, including a double.



Athens Bible School 12, Shoals Christian 2: Hannah Robison went 3-for-3 with three RBIs for Athens Bible on Tuesday.

Kaylee Carter had three hits, including a triple, and one RBI for the Trojans, while Reece Braman added two hits and two RBIs.

Brooke Blakely pitched four innings for the win, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out six.



Decatur Heritage 12, Tanner 2: Sarah Burchell went 4-for-4 with two doubles and six RBIs for Decatur Heritage on Tuesday.

Marissa Adams had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs for the Eagles, while Savannah Sims, Allie Tidwell and Aliyuh Jones added two hits and one RBI each.

Adams pitched five innings for the win, allowing one run on seven hits with four strikeouts.



Athens 14, Muscle Shoals 4: Lily Lowery had three hits and five RBIs in a big win for Athens on Tuesday.

Lexie Thornton had three hits, including two doubles, and two RBIs for the Golden Eagles, while Jaicey Harty added two hits and two RBIs. Abby Lopez drove in three runs.



Buckhorn 11, Ardmore 10: Makena Hall had two hits, including a homer, and two RBIs for Ardmore on Tuesday.

AG King homered, doubled, singled and drove in a run for the Tigers, while Fallon Broadway and Ellie Riley added two hits and one RBI each. Addison Mikel hit a solo home run.



Madison Academy 9, Elkmont 0: Nyla Parker doubled to account for Elkmont's only hit on Tuesday.



Tharptown 6, Clements 2: Carly Nave had a pair of hits, including a solo homer, for Clements on Tuesday. Peyten Burks added a pair of hits for the Colts.

West Morgan boys 10, West Limestone 0: Landon Henderson scored five goals for West Morgan in a big win on Tuesday.

Brayden Nava, Alex Mendez, Michael Mendez, Edgar Dominguez and Mason Sinclair all had one goal each for the Rebels.
