I have an HP PSC 500 printer. My computer is a HP Media Cener thing.

Got it last year.

Anyhoo - we are having problems printing. When we go to print, the printer can't be found. But, if we reboot the 'puter, it will print fine.

But if it sits idle for a couple of hours, we get the same error and have to reboot.

Any help would be appreciated.

And no, I'm not gonna trade it in for a Mac.

I have the current drivers and it is on the DOT_004 port.

I tried the troubleshooting guide on-line and that thing is worthless.

Since it is USB try unplugging and plugging the usb cable back in.

Sounds like the connection is broken or the printer goes to sleep.

I think HP has a searchable knowledge base.
If I have time later today I will check on a better fix.
