Props to Shawn Marion

Everyone gets on his case if he has a bad game, but if he plays well, no one says anything.

Well, he played super tonight. Played the passing lanes terrific. Was all over the court and grabbed the most important rebound of our season thus go far.

Put the trade talk to bed ok, he's not going anywhere.

I was very impressed. He was super focused. They're a hard team to beat when he's hittin like that. Tim Thomas was huge also.

He snuck in and stole that key rebound from Lamar...I don't know what Odom was thinking, but he went terribly deep in the paint, then realized it was going over and was shocked to find Marion there getting the ball.

Odom beat himself up after the game for that...but it was a great play by the Tin Man Marion.

Most of the fans of your team think he has little heart.

I don't see anyone crying foul when people on here call Kobe the Rapist...happened yesterday with no repercussion.

I think you're WAYYYYYY off here D-dog and misunderstand what some of Shawn's critics problems are with him. As a notorious "basher" (I guess), I have no problem with Shawn's heart - that's all the guy is - funky shot, no great BB skills, but he takes his athleticism and his heart and goes out there and does everything he can do to help us win games - HOWEVER, that isn't to say he's MENTALLY TOUGH enough to be a game-ender, but most guys aren't and I have to accept that Shawn ain't one of them so I can get off his case more. That's where you're confusing the issue between heart and being mentally a little soft.

But to say he's got no heart - that's just downright stupid - all that guy is muscle and heart. If he had a killer instinct he'd be legendary - that's the difference - heart ain't got nothing to do with it.

I can see that...I cross mentally strong and heart up quite often. I will concede he's got a lot of heart, but he does have a penchant for disappearing at big moments. Which is why him grabbing that board and kicking to TT was a fantastic play...one I didn't think he'd make. He out hearted LO (another guy notorious for letting his mind drift and make dumb plays, that sometimes plays without heart).

Even though Kobe could not be stopped, I enjoyed watching Marion's defensive effort on him. Incredible.

All trade Marion talk should now be officially banned, jump a board the Marion band wagon!!

I don't think it's the heart that is the problem. It's his mind most of the time. The guy loses focus, and has lost focus many a times. The clearest example are the blown layups, and dunk attempts.

He's so worried about the other guys that he panics and lays a brick. When he's in a flow, and doesn't worry about other things, he plays well.

Also, D-dogg, there's almost no chance that Lamar could have gotten that rebound. That shot was way off, and the carom was too odd. If it was closer, and had a higher bounce to it, there's no chance Marion could have gotten that rebound. (Like most good shots would.)

Finally, I do not, I repeat do not, like Marion's shot. That thing makes me shiver with every basketball bone in my body. The most unorthodox shot I've ever seen. The only plus side about it is that when driving, it's so weird, that it's almost impossible to predict when he'll shoot it up. So timing a block on him is a bit more difficult. But dangit man, each time I see him shoot his set shot, I almost have to rip my eyes out. I get a sick feeling in my stomach...

Yeah, LO really misjudged that shot and came under the rim before he realized too late that the ball was going out farther. He misplayed it terribly.

That's for sure. And he seems to get it off awfully quickly as well.

Shawn was certainly energized for this game. I suspect he was surprised when Odom came out playing so hard in this series and outplayed him, sending him into a sort of a funk. It may have picked his spirits up to defend Kobe. It put him in the spotlight and wasn't as bruising as defending the bigs. Probably a good move for game 7 to spot him on Kobe the same way again... its not a bad idea to mix up the D Kobe is seeing, anyway, and if it boosts Shawn's morale thats a great bonus.

I'm waiting to see which Shawn Marion shows up tonight... he's disappointed us in many playoff games and had a few impressive ones. I don't know where his problem lies but the best thing he has going for him is his motor and just why it tends to sputter under playoff pressure is a mystery to me. You'd think that wouldn't be too hard of a thing to control but it sure seems to be. Its not like he's cursed with incureable 'yips'...
