Prosecutor mulls Cincy-Xavier charges (AP)

A southwest Ohio prosecutor will consider criminal charges in the aftermath of a brawl at the end of the Cincinnati-Xavier (ZAYV'-yur) basketball game. Hamilton County prosecutor Joe Deters (DEE'-turz) said in a statement Monday that his office will review the fight to determine whether any charges are appropriate.

I like how the cincy coach treated his players afterwords. Made them take off their jerseys post game and said "We'll figure out who's still wearing this jersey"

He also has come out and said he wants a video apology from all the players and if he doesn't believe they are sincere, they will be gone from the team.

Hope that happens, because some of these guys should not be playing basketball for a long time, or at the very least, lose some or all of their scholarship money.

I think it was all show on his part. They'll miss some gimme games and their first Big East game. If that coach wasn't just doing a "look at me, look at me" thing, the guy that sucker punched the Xavier player would have been gone for the season. SHOULD have been gone for the season.

true, seems like there was some other pressure from the school not to "Over react" with suspensions. I think if you're playing basketball and going to school for free (What 15-20k scholly? More?) You should be held to a higher standard.

for UC it would depend on if they were in-state/out of state .... tuition & fees plus the little extra would run anywhere between $15k and $32k

xavier is actually pretty reasonable at around $17k

either way - it seems like they should be held accountable for their actions - yes the suspension hurts, but the university is getting no benefit from them being on the bench and has a detriment due to their actions ...... sounds like some volunteering around campus could be in order

Looked like a hockey game ( please take the fighting out of hockey). Really bad scene and the post game press conference rant by Xavier players was horrible. If the NCAA doesn't take the trash talking and taunting out of the game, there will be more. Really horrible non officiating prior to the brawl. Reminded me of the Miami/FIU football debacle a few years ago. These cross town rivalries need to be reevaluated.

This new years eve, they have scheduled Boise and Idaho to play at a neutral site location (Only about 25 miles from Boise state campus) while this rivalry doesn't get as bad as others there's still a lot of things that happen on an off the court. This arena didn't schedule fan sections, so all the fans are intermixed. It could get a little interesting on and off the court.

Also that there's really not much consequences for bad actions, especially if you can nail a jumper, catch a pass, etc.

Lying, cheating, and stealing is part of American culture. From the financial markets we have to play in, to the flow of ads we see on TV every day - we are soaking in it. Why would we expect youngsters to not partake in the practice?
