It seems that most websites do not respect our ability to draft players at ALL! I find it quite annoying that these writers talk about our inability to produce any good players (other than trades). We should have a few solid NHLers coming up , with the recent high picks we have had. However, this really hasn't happened. It looks like we only go after high risk/high reward players that end up just being the high risk (E.G. Jakub Koreis and Eager in 2002 draft).

Isn't it time that we got some new scouts in this organization? I cannot stand to waste picks on players like we are the freaking Clippers!!

We do have new scouts in the organization, Tom Kurvers was in charge of the last draft, taking over for Dave Draper and Vaughn Karpan. The Coyotes are still suffering from the pre-Draper/Karpan days when they had several atrocious drafts. 1997-1999 were almost complete disasters for the Coyotes in the draft, with the only NHLer coming out of them being Ossi Vaananen. More recent drafts have provided a decent amount of players with potential, including Kolanos (2000), Sjostrom and Spiller (2001), LeNeveu, Jones, and Callahan (2002), I believe that the Coyotes drafting has improved greatly, with the exception being the 2003 draft (but thats what happens when you have zero first and second rounders). On paper, 2004 and 2005 look to be solid efforts, but it will take several more years to truly make that determination.

Thanks for the great input! I didn't know that we got new scouts in the organization. Perhaps we will see a great new influx of talent in the coming years.
