I just got a PS3 this weekend. I'm normally very opposed to starting threads with vague questions, but I think I'll give myself a pass.

What PS3 games should I buy? What's the best part about playing them?

This is the first video game system I've ever owned. My high school friends were not into video games. In college I was into audio/video piracy. I've never been into computer games that much, but did enjoy Civilization, Star Wars games, Myst and Doom at various times.

I've already ordered Madden 2008 and have a $50 amazon code to burn.

There isn't much. Download some free demos off PSN. Rainbow 6 Vegas rules and is only 40 bucks. Just dont buy into the Uncharted or whatever its called hype. The lack of games and Xbox Live is really playing with my head right now as far as my enjoyment of the PS3 is concerned. You could go balls out and get Rock band.

Oh, and if you buy from Amazon, use the ASFN link.

That's all.

Resistance: Rise of Man was fantastic.

Assassin's Creed is very interesting.

I play NBA 08 quite a bit.

I just got Lair and it seems pretty fun.

Motorstorm is a great racing game if you like a variety of terrain and vehicles.

Folklore is a gorgeous game that I can't play well because it requires the ability to color differentiate.

Honestly I have more PS3 games than I have time to play.

It's Fall of Man.

Resistance, Motorstorm, Warhawk, Call of Duty 4, Uncharted, Unreal Tournament, Ratchet and Clank are games that I have or are interested in. COD4 and Warhawk take up most of my gaming time.

Elder scrolls: Oblivion, Game of the year edition.

It includes the expansions and has well over 200 hours of gameplay. That is a good value. Assassins creed , uncharted and COD 4 I was able to complete in a rental period. COD4 being the shortest, unless you are into online gaming. I can't speak to that.

Those are the only ive played thus far.

I haven't made up my mind yet on what other games I'm going to buy, but I'm loving the media server feature. If I had known that the PS3 could play xvid files I would have bought one a lot sooner. I have an s-video cable running from my computer to my TV, but rarely watched my BT downloads on the TV because it was too much of a hassle to mess with my monitor settings. Now I just need to turn on the PS3 and it can pull up whatever I want to watch wirelessly.

The media server feature is cool but its a slight step below the 360 media feature IMO. I liked how you could play music during games on the 360 and shuffle. Also WMV HD isn't supported so you can't play ripped HD movies downloaded illegally from the internet, although I would never, ever, EVER, do that sort of thing. I just downloaded the NFL Tour demo. I will probably have to buy that one. The bowling game that you can download for $9.99 looks pretty cool. I just wish these games would offer voice chat. If they have poker online with voice I'll grab that too. World Series of Poker on the 360 was a blast online. You could play for hours and all the drunks would start getting philosphical and start talking conspiracy theories and stuff. Good times.

Them shooters are probably good.

If you get Guitar Hero it'll keep you busy for a few months so that would be a nice one to get.

COD4 online is so effing amazing, WOW.

I would love to pick up the GOTY Oblivion. I just don't have 100+ hours of gameplay to dedicate to it.

Agreed. Easily my favorite FPS right now. I don't have it for the 360 because I play with some guys I have known for years on the PC for multiplayer. The online play is awesome and addicting.

resistance (great game), cod4 (obviously), uncharted: drakes fortune is really fun, oblivion

oh and warhawk is alot of fun. its hilarious how you die sometimes and its more of an arcade fps than a realistic fps like cod4. and its online only.
