My HD-DVD player has been having problems and it finally went out. So I decided to take the plung into Blu-Ray and purchased a PS-3. Everything I've read on the internet said that the PS-3 was the best Blu-Ray player on the market for the price. The movies indeed looks and sounds great.
However I have a major Gripe. I can't believe that Sony didn't put an IR sensor on this thing! I was trying to set up my Harmony 880 last night to control the Blu-Ray player on the PS-3 only to find out I have to buy a bluetooth remote. WTF! Are you kidding me. Sony has us by the balls. So now I have to go out and buy a $25 PS-3 Blu_Ray remote so my mom can figure out how to play movies for the kids. On top of that I'm dropping another $20 on some IR to Bluetooth converter so that some day I'll be able to use my Universal Remote.
I can't believe that Sony never even addressed this. They don't even offer a converter. You have to buy some cheesy 3rd party remote and use the USB IR adapter that comes with it. As a home theater enthusiast I just find this very lame.
