Last month the Raiders acquired QB Geno Smith from the Seahawks in a trade that sent a third round pick (92 overall) to Seattle. Upon the trade being completed, the Raiders were expected to sign Smith to an extension. It took a tad longer than many expected, but the two sides have agreed to terms on a new contract that gives him a raise and keeps him under contract through the 2027 season.

Sources: The #Raiders and QB Geno Smith have agreed to terms on a new deal to better compensate him for his play after the blockbuster trade.

Smith's extension is for $75 million over two seasons with $66.5 million guaranteed. It can reach up to $85.5 million after incentives.

The new deal plus the $31 million he is making this season, brings his average over three years to around $35 million and moves him from the 19th highest paid QB to the 17th highest paid with incentives that would move him to 16th. So, not a big jump in the rankings even if it is a potential jump in pay, which is the important thing.

Right in the middle of the top 32 is a good spot for Geno Smith. Before he was at the bottom among non-rookie starting QB's.
