Physically, Rosen fits the mold of a Kingsbury quarterback more than Kyler Murray, the Oklahoma quarterback who's widely considered a lock to be the Cardinals' pick at No. 1 in this month's NFL draft. Of the seven quarterbacks who played primarily for Kingsbury in his six seasons at Texas Tech, only one was shorter than 6-foot-3 -- Baker Mayfield. And Mayfield split time as a freshman in 2013 with 6-foot-5 Davis Webb before transferring to Oklahoma. But it's not just Kingsbury who preferred bigger quarterbacks in the Air Raid. During his eight seasons at Texas Tech, where he made the Air Raid a household scheme, Mike Leach's quarterbacks were 6-1, 6-2, 6-3 and 6-4. The 6-3 quarterback was Kingsbury.

Rosen is 6-4.

THIS IS NOT TEXAS TECH. THIS IS THE NFL. You saw how KK’s offensive wisdom translated to winning seasons in college. KK has been surrounded with NFL coaching veterans for a reason: To focus on building an offensively potent team. If the franchise drafts a player at number one in order to fit to KK’s scheme, then there is some real disorganization at the top

Well, it translated marvelously in the offense, as you stated then surrounding him with proper defensive coaching, but understand, can everyone understand, that it's not even a matter of defensive coaching at Texas Tech but recruiting the talent from Oklahoma, Texas, A&M and freaking Alabama for that matter from the state. There is no trick defense to stop greater talent unlike one can take lesser talent to trump a defense since the defense is in a reactionary mode unless they're loaded
I live in Texas, and I have not met one person who is a Texas Tech supporter which was happy to see Kingsbury go, it's more of a college trying to cover up that they do not offer a more prestigious program to garner the talent to want to play there

So.....Murray is short?

Yes, he's really short and a tiny but major dynamo in his own right... I just wish he could have played a few more opponents like the Bama one because there are so many unknowns about him due to his type of competition, because I loved Wilson in the draft because I was able to see for me what he could do as a pro

If a team hires a guy to do what he does best, and doesn't let him, there is some real disorganization at the top. This has been discussed ad nauseum, but the new NFL is going the way of the Rams. Hire great staffs and let the GM be the head coach of sorts. Offense and defense guys get to do their thing and really hone in like McVay could with the Rams.....and Wade did his thing. I think thats what they might be trying to implement here...jmo

And the Rams were smart enough not to consider drafting a quarterback in the first round after Jared Goff had one bad season. Or even flirt with the idea

Slotted salaries...not as much of a difference between 1 and 10 today, as it would have been a decade ago.

It's only an $8 million difference in signing bonus...which would be accelerated and dead cap, if either is traded after year 1.

I may be way off, but that's how I'm digesting it.

Rosen cost plenty. Not a number one pick but top 10 money. Plus the opportunity cost of trading to move up to get him. It’s pretty obscene to move on after the money the team plowed in to him

Maybe these threads could use some more of these .....
:deadhorse2:

:D

I have seen a lot of you lately. 375 posts in 10 years and dozens (at least) about Kyler Murray. Plus you just posted two consecutive posts in a row about the issue. Hypocrite. Just put you on ignore.

Yeah & pretty obscene to move on after the money plowed into Steve Wilks after 1 year as well but it happened

I think Michael wants to win & that’s all that matters. Now let’s see who our QB is in 2 weeks
