If we take a flyer on a QB in the draft, just so we don't have to negotiate with other teams for him as a UDFA I think we should use our second 7th rounder to take Taylor Heinicke from ODU. He's not the fastest guy around or very big but he has those intangibles and an arm like a canon.

Why not. Can't really see us taking one earlier unless one falls to like the 5th Rd. that we really like.

Unfortunately, I see Arians as being too stubborn to give up on Logan Thomas, even if he is already not up to par as being a potential QB for us this early on. Meaning, if we do draft a guy and he shows he has skills, his only hope is the practice squad because he will not unseat Palmer or Stanton either and then be open to being picked up by another team if he shows well preseason... with the guy added from Indy, drafting a QB would be a wasted pick by this observation

Beyond the sun.
From what I have read, he will probably make a great coach someday. If NFL-caliber defenders don't squash him on the practice field, first. Can never have too many intelligent competitors... or Training Camp arms.

I have an arm like a Minolta, the wife tells me.

It would be a shame to see the Cards waste yet another draft pick on a quarterback in this draft, unless one of the top two falls to #24 (not happnin')

I bet they will take one somewhere in the draft.

I would be willing to use the first of the two 7th rounders on him. Seems he has really worked hard to improve and has done a good job increasing his arm strength as well as quickening his release. All reports indicate he already moves well in the pocket and can read defenses as well as a willingness to take a hit to complete a pass. Reports also indicate he can make the touch throws already so he sounds pretty NFL ready and with some additional coaching could prove to be a capable backup or maybe even a solid starter.
