I've raised this question in another thread, but can't find it. And I'm wondering if it could be turned into a poll?
Who is our QB of the future?
Drew Stanton?
Logan Thomas?

Guys, keep in mind that Stanton is only 30, and that Thomas hasn't even played in a regular season game, as of yet. Are you saying that neither of them fit the bill?

If Stanton was the "QBOF" and BA loved him as a starter he would not have wanted Carson Palmer. Remember, the second Palmer was traded for BA anointed him the starter. Stanton is a good backup and I understand some are gaga over him now but it is too soon for me to say he should/could replace a healthy Palmer as the starter. That is silly talk IMO.

LT is so raw it is hard to see him as the "QBOF" either. He is very inaccurate, which is hard to overcome in the NFL. But, if this coaching staff can't help him then he isn't long for the league anyway. I doubt his ability to "learn" accuracy, it just doesn't happen that often.

The "franchise" QB this team has long searched for isn't here yet IMO.

At 61 Bruce Arians isn't interested in a quarterback of the future. If Palmer / Stanton aren't deemed good enough going into next season, he'll go find someone else.

The Cardinals renegotiated Carson Palmer's contract to be for two years (written with a voided third year to spread out the signing bonus). Then Geno Smith fell to them in the draft and they didn't take him. They also could have had the second quarterback off the board in this year's draft. Rent a quarterback for a couple years and then don't take one in the draft to develop. If the team was losing the fan base would justifiably be up in arms. But the Cardinals are winning so we are drinking the Bruce Arians Kool-Aid.

This.

Stanton is a career back up, a good one but a back up.

Thomas is an athletic scatter armed QB, maybe he can fix his accuracy issues but I don't have a lot of faith.

Backup or not if he wins games he is our QB.

Young was a backup at SF befoe he was an all pro. Stanton's time may have just come.

Ryan Tannehill when we trade our 2015 first round pick (#30 overall) to the Dolphins for him and Dion Jordan.

There are plenty of starting QB's in this league that are not as good as Stanton. Arians signed Stanton to be the starter before he knew Palmer would be availabe. When Palmer was available, he nabbed him because he is clearly better. I think Arians sees Stanton as a very good back up and a passable starter. He sees Palmer as a starter, period.

There could be worse things than having Stanton as a future starter.

For playoff-caliber teams? Which ones?

I was going to say Aaron Rodgers but that's a pipe dream with his contract.

I remember a few years ago seeing an interview with him where he was asked if he held a grudge against the 49ers for passing him up for Alex Smith. he said no but then had a smile on his face and said "but I don't mind playing against them so I can show them they made a mistake."

maybe he'll get tired of carrying them on his back and demand a trade to a team in the 49ers division.

:D

And it's just not going to happen--at least not next offseason.

The Dolphins are seriously discussing benching Tannehill for the next couple of weeks. Completely mystifying.

He's pretty good, I don't think he's special but I don't think you have to be special if you don't turn the ball over a ton.

I agree the we will announce it later when your backup is Matt Moore is pretty odd.

Maybe it's because he's completing passes at about the same rate as Chad Henne and Jake Locker while barely averaging over a horrific, and league low, 5 yards per attempt.

I haven't watched any Dolphins games, but what I've heard from the Grantland folks and others is that his receiving corps is an utter mess--unaware of where they're supposed to be going and dropping passes all over the place.

They do have a new OC where I've read he wants to be more run oriented and has turned Charles Clay, who was pretty good at TE last, into a non-factor in the passing game.

They do. He came over from the Eagles, although he only had that one-year relationship with Chip Kelly. Before that, he worked for the Virginia Cavaliers.

It's possible they should just clear out that entire franchise.
