Carlos Quentin is everything some of us said he'd be, and aren't we glad we didn't trade him for an overrated pitcher as some suggested? Drew is defensively a blast and the complete package -- BabyBacks rule again!

Gonzo needs to realize that he can play another 3 years or so if he would just suck it up and go DH somewhere. (Yankees?) He is an absolutely horrible fielder, but still an above average to good hitter when he's on.

Its gotten so hard to root for Gonzo at the plate, like we won on saturday, it was kinda upsetting that he won the game, I wonder how Chris Young is going to do when he gets here.

I was going to say to sandwich Carlos between 2 lefties, but I forgot about Estrada, who needs to be hitting higher in the lineup as long as he's hot.

Regardles, CQ needs to be in the lineup every day. This team is missing a right-handed slugger and, well, here he is.

Here's my dream lineup for right now:

CF Byrnes
SS Drew
LF/RF Quentin
C Estrada
LF/RF The Corner Outfiedler We Don't Trade
3B Tracy
1B Jackson
2B Hudson

Go first place. :)

I like your lineup but I'd switch Drew and Tracy. Tracy is ideal for the 2 spot, and Drew isn't proven at the dish yet. Also I'd switch CoJack and Hudson, because for whatever reason, Hudson owns the 7 spot.

My version:

Byrnes
Tracy
Quentin
Estrada
Green
Drew
Hudson
Jackson

This is with Gonzo being traded, obviously.

I think with the way Gonzo has been playing the last week or so, Green will be moved since he is owed 10 million next year and you will get the same if not more from Quentin and Gonzo's option will be declined freeing up 20 million total for next year.

I do agree with you to an extent, but Gonzo has a fairly high value due to his recent hot streak. It'll be interesting to see what they do.

Gonzo for a minor leauge player to be named later, would be very high value.

Any trade for Gonzo or Green will yeild very little since these are more cost cutting moves since they know that there young kids waiting that they believe can put up AT LEAST the same numbers.

And as far as all the Gonzo bashing, I want to see him finish out the season here this year. He may be past his prime, but as a TRUE fan, I am loyal and would like to give him a nice goodbye, we owe him that since he had the most clutch hit that this town has ever seen and will ever see for some time. I still root for him and hope he continues his streak so he can leave with more respect than he is getting now.

Batting Quentin 3rd is a bit premature.

If he keeps this torrid pace up for a couple of weeks maybe but not after 2 games. A lot of rookies come up and make a fast start but the pressure combined with pitchers figuring out the pitches they struggle with usually slows them down.

If Gonzo stays I think the talk will be more reverent once the trade deadline passes.

but as a TRUE fan,

Oh shut up. Are you insinuating that somehow if someone wants Gonzo traded, they arent a "TRUE" fan?

I want what is best for the Arizona Diamondbacks, if that means trading a former star, thats what it means. I'm sorry he has become completely out of touch with whats going on, but thats not our fault as fans. Gonzo should be out there before games, taking Carlos aside, showing him the ropes, giving him tips about fielding at Chase, etc etc.

Actually if you read it, I was refering the constant bashing about how he is the worst player ever to play. He deserves more respect than that. I guess if you had put my whole quote it would show that.

The only rumor surfacing around Gonzo has him going to Texas. With his no trade clause, I doubt he would approve that trade. I agree though that the person likely to be moved now is Shawn Green. If the Yankees can't get Abreu, then I think the Yankees will target Green. With that short porch in right, his game would suit Yankee Stadium well.

It is very similar to Dodger Stadium were he has hit many of his homeruns. I totally forgot about that. That makes even more sence.

You see, by emphasizing the word true, you insinuate that anyone who disagrees with you, isn't a true fan. It may not have been your intent, but its certainly what your insinuating. I root for him too, and I hope he can keep raking in doubles, but somewhere else. He's hurting the team now.

I see what you are saying, I am sorry if it was taken the wrong way. But there are some here latley that are being very harsh and I was trying to stand up for him here. As far as hurting the team, I would have agreed a few week back, but latley he has doing his part at the plate. He even won 2 games on this last home stand. I was trying to say that I am willing the let him finish the season out, so it doesn't seem like he was forced out. I have a feeling he may even retire when his option is declined. If that does play out, the bad part is, since the Kendrick(sp?) now has bad blood, he can not stay a part of the organization if he retires. Also, this is not at you Hoover, but if I hear anymore steroid talk about him, I will scream. He is 38 and had elbow surgury not long ago, he had a great run and is not past his prime.

^I agree 100% about the roids thing. I dont think Gonzo was ever on the juice, he doesnt look like a comic book hero like McGwire or Bonds. He is tall and lean and muscular, but not oddly huge. He looks like a pro athlete who works out a lot. He had one good season, planning in an era with small ball parks and arguably diluted talent. The guys always been able to slam doubles, and for a short window, he was able to turn it into HR power.

I think my dream situation would be for Green to get traded, and have Quentin be put in RF for the rest of the year. Then when he gets healthy perhaps platoon Scott Hairston w/ Gonzo in left. I'd be fine w/ Gonzo finishing out the season, everyone coming to the last week or so of games with signs and cheers and wave him goodbye.

Im just sick of Gonzos attitude and his insistence on playing everyday and being shocked when he doesn't. He needs to be more graceful.

His arms are biggish but look at his upper body. I'm no expert on roids but he doesn't look like Conseco, Bonds, Big Mac or some of the other known users.

IMO Gonzo will only be traded if some club agrees to give him a nice one year extension. I think he would agree if the money were right.

He's NOT getting that club option from the Dbacks next year. This could be the last time he has any bargaining leverage.

Jesus people, veiny arms are all the proof you need? The my grandmas on roids. Arms like that is how "older" (mid 30s) players who are buff look. I have a friend who is 22 and his arms look almost just like that (and he's not on 'roids). Even if Gonzo was on steroids, I don't care (I think they should be legal), so I dont know why Im arguing.
