Question about ripping CDs to HD

well - on average, the rule of thumb is 10 megs per 1 minute of music.

if you do MP3, you'll be okay - but lose quality.

WMA format uses WAY less memory, but not a lot of MP3 players will work with WMA. if you are just going to play them on your PC, you are fine

ugh....so making burning CD's ain't gonna happen with the WMA format?

Yeah you can burn them in that format, you just have to make sure the device you are going to play it on supports the format

You should be fine. Just keep it all under one folder like C:\music\ where you can keep track of how much space it is using.


I am a big fan of having seperate partitions or drives for system and storage rather than 1 big C: drive. Of course this is easiest to do when setting up the computer. It is a little more advanced after the fact. With seperate drive letters if you run out of space for storage it doesn't effect your system operation.
