I know there was a new CBA agreed to which encourages players to sign for more and longer with the team that drafted them but that's really one of the only "new" things it seems to include. I'm curious if there will be another chance to amnesty players though like there has been during the last 2 CBA agreements. It seems like it helps all involved as far as the player gets paid their full contract and it allows them to move on elsewhere and the team sheds cap and luxury tax space. I hope something like it will be in the CBA when it goes into effect this summer but haven't heard anything. Does anyone here know of the changes to look for with the new agreement?

Ideally the Suns could use this on Knight in the offseason if we can't find a taker. I'd hate for his cap number to be on the books for the next 3 years because we may not need it this summer but surely in the next year or two most teams will be closer to the increased cap and I'd hate to have $15 million in dead money, or worse stretching it out so we owe around $8 million for the next 5-6 seasons with the stretch provision.

I googled and it looks like there's no Amnesty Clause this time around.

But I'm not too concerned about his money, I really doubt it will be an issue for us until Bender and Chriss come up for extension and I think he'll be gone one way or the other by then.

It was reportedly few months ago that there won't be an amnesty clause available in the new CBA.

Sucks because I know a lot of NBA teams sure would love to use that to rid themselves of some dead weight contracts.
